Chapter 10

He took her to Hecate and Atayr left. ~ "Hi, my dear," said Hecate. ~ "Hi, ma'am," said Ayla, smiling. ~ "I have a secret to tell you, but Lilith must not know. That's why I said I had a lesson to give you. When I discovered that your love was Denys, a demon, I found out he is not actually a demon. Demons are not born; they just exist and appear. But Denys was born from two gods who abandoned him at birth because he was the result of r**e by a demon god and Persephone. Since she was r***d, she gave the child to the demons to raise, making them believe he was a demon from birth. He is a god among the realms, but no one can know this. He can live with you, and you can have a child together. However, you will have to become stronger and face Lilith to tell him this, and he must renounce his godly power. But this will involve a lot of struggle." ~ "I can gain power, but how will I face everyone alone? If I try to find him, I'll be killed or worse. Lilith already said this, and I think Atayr wants to be with me. What if she gives me to him?" ~ "Calm down, everything in its own time. Act normal and look for a way for you two to be together and have a family, which I will bless." Ayla returned to the castle, and Elo was waiting to talk to her, but Ayla said nothing out of fear that she would tell Lilith. She was determined not to tell anyone and to fight to find a way to tell Denys without anyone finding out. She waited a bit to become stronger and gain the power to talk to him through telepathy, which she discovered they used frequently to communicate or "summon" each other. So she began studying telepathy and sought help from her worst enemy, Atayr. She tried to find a way to locate Atayr. Ayla asked Atayr for help, and he did not refuse. They agreed to train telepathy every night. She spent the day with Elo and told her that Atayr would help her. ~ "Are you sure you want help from Atayr? He will want something in return." ~ "But he's the only person Lilith would allow me to ask for help without me even needing to ask, and he knows very well how to do it." ~ "Prepare for the payback!" Night came, Ayla met with Atayr, and she immediately asked: ~ "What do you want in return for helping me?" ~ "I'm just helping you; I won't want anything in return." Ayla said nothing, and they began. Atayr explained that she had to focus on the person she wanted to transmit the message to, and once she felt connected to them, she should think about what she wanted them to hear. Atayr thought of a word and made Ayla hear it in her mind. He said she just needed faith and willpower. So she focused, thought of Atayr, and asked why he was helping her, and he heard her thoughts. They repeated this ten times until Atayr heard: ~ "I'm helping you because I like you. And congratulations, that's how it's done. But when we're close, it's much easier. During the day, you can train with me to get the hang of it when the person is far away." They were in a small garden in Lilith's castle, and Ayla didn't understand why Atayr liked her when they hadn't had anything together, unlike her and Denys, who had gradually grown closer. "But Atayr liked her for her strength and determination. He admired her for her courage and for not staying silent, so gentle yet so fierce at the same time. Like Denys, he admired that she wasn't like other humans who begged for their lives when tortured; she suffered in silence." Back at Lilith's castle, Elo was eagerly waiting for her to know how it went, and she was stunned when Ayla said that Atayr didn't ask for anything in return and that those lessons were his way of getting closer to her. They both went to bed, and in her room, Ayla couldn't stop thinking about how Denys was and if she could communicate with him. She tried to connect with him but couldn't. She forced herself and managed to connect with Atayr, wishing him goodnight. Atayr responded with goodnight. A few minutes passed, and the door to her room opened, and the tall, pale man that was Atayr entered. ~ "I was a bit far, and you managed to communicate with me." Ayla was wearing a red nightgown, standing in front of the window illuminated by the moonlight. Atayr approached her bed and sat next to her, causing her to sit on the bed. He got closer and kissed her, but she pulled away. ~ "You know you'll never see Denys again, and don't you see we have a connection?" ~ "I might not see him again, but I still love him." He stood up and left the room, looking very handsome in a black suit and an overcoat, but that wasn't what Ayla wanted. Day after day, they continued training without touching on that subject. Sometimes, they seemed like friends and occasionally shared a laugh. Ayla managed to respond to Lilith telepathically when she called her and talked to Atayr during the day, asking questions about things she didn't know. Over time, it became clear that the two had a connection, but Ayla didn't want to admit it. Her heart beat faster when they were close, and as he helped her, during one of the training sessions, he even gave her a quick kiss, which she didn't refuse. "What's happening? I love Denys, but Atayr is being so good and kind to me, not forcing or hurting me at all. What if I never see Denys again?"
