Chapter 17A Question of Synthetics
Andy and Maria Ross finished the last of the bottle of house red wine they'd shared over dinner at The Mount Pleasant hotel and restaurant, one of their favourite haunts on the rare occasions they managed to find the time to eat out. With frustration mounting in connection with his latest case, he'd decided during the drive home to take his wife to the restaurant, enjoy a meal in its comfortable and familiar surroundings and take his mind off the case. Maria was delighted with his suggestion, and, as always, the pair had talked of anything but work during the meal, a long standing rule they'd imposed on themselves to prevent such treats descending into out of hours work conferences.
