Winter's Choice

Chapter 12

As I reached my room, I noticed the door was open and unlocked, I was pretty sure I had locked it when I left. Entering my room, I could see something had happened in here as my room was a wreck like somebody had been looking for something, taking a whiff to see who had been in my room, all I could smell was perfume, smart. But once again they under estimated me. I don't just need smell, reaching out with all my senses, I could finally feel the  the flow of the power they radiated, It wasn't one I had come into contact with before, Best to keep an eye out.

After half an hour my room was back to normal, I crashed onto my bed beyond exhausted and I couldn't help but worry for tomorrow, an how thing's would go. I know challenge's could happen  because I wasn't like a normal Alpha, I wouldn't force somebody to give blind loyalty, an being unexperienced I would need back up with advisor's which would be hard to pick, even with a council or elder's who decide on rule's for all, I wanted my own to help make it fair for all, maybe having one of each species would be the best bet.

With all these thought's drifting through my mind, I drifter off to sleep.

I glanced at my phone, noticing the time I decided 4am early enough to get ready and to grab some food before everybody else and to prepare for the day ahead, I knew rogue's would be there today and most rogue's who turned up would have barely anything when they showed up. 

After a quick shower, I left my room and approached the food hall, I couldn't help but notice how quiet it was at this time, way better than everybody being awake and staring, after grabbing a full English obviously without the black pudding, who eats that... Along with my blood O neg, I dug in, while scrolling through social media, I had hundred's of message's and email's already from both friend's, family and hater's, doing a quick scan of the email from Alana, I noticed she had sent another list of the children and family's who would come today for the meet and greet, I also noticed she had put the most venerable at the top, guess the oracle had given her the head's up on which I would be seeing first today.

Thinking it over, I sent a text to my old friend from back home, asking for a favor, I knew she would be awake as she was a maid at the palace and day's start early there. Soon as I sent the text, the read notification popped up, no longer than 30seconds later, my phone rang.

"Winter, Sorry had to find a place away from my boss, you know how it is, it's crazy here since your dad found out about what happened from Elena, also your step mum isn't happy and is demanding they pull you out of school since you embarrassed them and your future mate. But as to your request for blanket's, food and seating plus for the clearing to be under cover from the rain, it is all done, Steve said he will send over the food for the event and some staff around 6am, to begin set up, I also spoke to my daughter, she is also going to be going as she found her mate not long ago but he's a demon, which is very much not happening here, He's a trained assassin, He will be along with her today to provide protection for you, I hope this help's, I wish you luck with everything, if I hear of anymore mixed mating's ill send them your way right away, also be careful, your father is up to something, he's been meeting with his advisor's all night." Cherry advised.

"Thank you Cherry, I am happy she found a mate finally, I know she has dreamed of it since she was old enough to know what a mate is! Strange that he would be an assassin though, she seems quiet and shy, to be paired with what I'm guessing is a dominant demon, should be interesting to watch unfold at least, soon as she arrives tell her to go towards the main tent with her mate, to introduce him to myself and my pack beta."

"I will, thank you Winter, you will make a great Alpha" cherry stated proudly.

After a quick goodbye, I inhaled my food, although it wasn't as warm as it was, still it tasted fine, I noticed that I had a guest sat at my table, he had patiently waited till I had finished my call to approach.

As I drank my bottle of blood, I couldn't help but arch my eyebrow at King dumb, as he sat across from me.

"Winter, I have provided security at the event already aswell as around the ground's I pulled my enforcer's from my pack, who are only loyal to me and can't be bribed." dumbass said.

"Fairs, I'm about to head over to make sure everything is done, Plus to make sure all the favors I called in are there, plus i can bet people have already begun arriving, if they didn't last night, I want to meet them on my own first to make sure nothing has happened from student's or other pack's, feel free to stay here until 8am" I said as I walked out the door after dropping off my tray.

All I could hear along the deserted hallway's was his answering growl, I couldn't help but laugh to myself, probably not used to being spoken to by rival Alpha's much less with such blatant disrespect, best get used to it, Can't say I didn't warn anybody about not being an Alpha who doesn't back down no matter what.

As I left the main door's, I could hear loud talking from the clearing, I was using all my sense's at max because I wouldn't put it past somebody to try and assassinate me on my way there.

Running towards the clearing, I could feel a massive amount of energy, not all good had gathered, along with voices arguing, pushing to the limit I arrived to a massive crowd of children and parent's plus some other pack trying to hold control over them by forcing them to leave, funny thing they was all vampire's, I guess this is what my father had planned, by making sure nobody could join and force them to leave.

Scanning the crowd I could see my dad's head enforcer, crowding around a bunch of vampire women and children laughing and tormenting the kid's.

As my anger raged on, I noticed my familiar had joined sensing my anger away from the school, whispering a quick command to protect the children, while i placed my hand on the scruff of his neck to brace myself for what I was about to do..

Releasing my familiar, he raced right for the group of children, causing a distraction, I couldn't help but smile, fearless just how he always has been. Racing at speed towards the group only one picked up on my approach, an only because He knew my scent and as he turned ready to defend himself I jumped on his back and wrapped my hand's around his head, "To slow vamp" I whispered, as I broke his neck and jumped off his back onto my feet, I couldn't help but hiss at the remaining guard's daring them to challenge me with my stance and exposed teeth, As a guard stepped forth as to take on my challenge, howl's could be heard from all over the clearing from all direction's, it was as if an army had arrived with how many howl's had taken up the call, you could feel the amount of power from the wood's as a massive black wolf emerged and walked to my right side, with teeth bared and his fur standing on end ready to attack if they charged, as the rest of the pack trotted into the clearing a mountain lion appeared and moved to my left and exposed her canines, as soon as she had approached my dad's guards had begun to retreat back into the wood's obviously not expecting me to have protection much less from wolves and other Alpha's, releasing from my crouch but never taking my eyes from the guard who had grabbed the guy whos neck I had snapped.

"Well nothing like a good fight to start off the day" I huffed.

As the wolves and Amy all transformed back i turned to the waiting family's and put a smile on my face. "Sorry I didn't arrive earlier to help, if i had known this would happen, I would have been waiting with you all since last night, I apologize for my family's guards for not making this easy, I know how terrifying it can be to go into another person's territory at the best of time's never mind a Vampire Alpha's territory, but let this show I will defend you with help from my allies and pack, there is no reason to be afraid, I might be a new Alpha but as you can see I encourage mixed alliances, to formally introduce myself, I am Alpha Winter Bright, my beta, Amy is one of the shifter's I welcomed as soon as I made my pack, if you have any concern's please feel free to speak with her, if you would prefer a wolf to speak to i recommend my other pack member Violet, i will allow her to tell her own story if she wishes, while i set up the arrangement's for the meet and greet in 20minute's, you are all welcome to the food in the tent's aswell as other thing's such as clothes of all sizes for you and your family, I will shortly call forth some of you to speak with myself in the private tent behind us, we will be joined by Alpha King Lucas, as he will be around along with his enforcers to make sure nothing happens to anybody while we are here, If you are indeed accepted today, i already have most of the building's built such as he unmated female's and male block's which can hold many of you, this will be temporary while mage's from the council finish the rest of the housing for everybody"

"Also thank you for coming here today, I hope to be everything you have heard about and i hope to see many of you join my pack." I spoke loudly enough that i could be heard throughout the clearing.

As I walked back towards the main tent, i could see violet stepping up to tell her story but directly behind her a male was staring directly at her, as if spellbound to keep an eye on her, sparing a quick glace at Lucas I could see he had also noticed and he has a small smile on his face as he walked along beside me to the tent.

"Who was the enforcer staring at Violet? He seemed spellbound but also slightly crouched prepared for anything." I asked Lucas.

"It would seem my head enforcer has a mate attachment to Violet, he mind linked me straight away as soon as he saw her, this should be interesting since they are from different pack's but also because he is my best friend and my advisor, perhaps after this we should negotiate an alliance for our pack's since your territory boarder's my own, an with many unmated joining your pack, more will find mate's to some of my pack, it would be easier for them to stay in there own pack aswell as have free travel to live on different territory's. Very rare is this accepted by other Alpha's as usually the female would join the male's pack but, we are trying to be different here, especially with the new pack, it might be worth considering" Lucas stated.

"Interesting idea, I agree it is a good idea because if they find my pack not a good fit there is a back up which can be offered, an more choice will put them at ease, so they don't rush into a decision, would you be willing to allow them onto your land into the spare houses you constantly build every day? I may not have enough for them all on such short notice, I will have to send a message to find out and maybe pay more to get it all done sooner.

Reaching the raised platform with chairs on it, as i sat on the center one, Lucas sat to my left, raising an eyebrow at him in silent question, as no Alpha would take such a lowered position normally they or my beta sit's beside me or my most trusted advisor would occupy the seat.

"I find having two alphas in position's of power can be daunting for most, you should pick somebody to help you decide on the person you wish to join you and who can make good choices for the pack" 

Mulling this over while staring at the front of the open tent, black smoke appeared for a second as it disappears, I notice a demon and his mate approach, I can't hold the smile back when I notice it's Cherry's daughter and her mate.
