Chapter 7

The next lesson couldn't be more plain... Lore's. Well, Shifter lore. Yeah totes wish I could skip! As Amy and I continued towards our next class I couldn't help but feel eye's on me, sending my sense's out and getting a feel for who was around, I couldn't believe what I got back as I entered the class room..

My old teacher for sword fighting was stood at the front of the room with his muscled arm's crossed, while continuing to stare at me, I stopped in my tracks after taking a massive whiff of his scent.. I couldn't believe it! He was a SHIFTER, I couldn't help but frown thinking back to when I was around 8 years old. I knew he used to smell like a vampire during our session's, I didn't get how this could happen!

I stopped in the doorway staring directly at him " what are you doing here?!" I demanded while crossing my arms and scowling at him. I was furious that I had been tricked and so had my family to allow this shifter into our home much less how he managed to hide his true scent from me. ME. Who was trained to detect falseness from other's.

His smirk said it all. "I am your shifter lore teacher, but it is nice to see you again Winter, I'm sure ill be seeing a lot of you." he stated.

" I don't think so" I snarled as I backtracked from the room and down the hallway's towards the dome, which lead outside towards the field's filled with woodland, as I pushed open the door's, somebody grabbed my arm from behind, before I thought I grabbed the person's finger's and began bending them back creating pain, as I took in who had grabbed me, I snarled and kicked his knee out from under him causing him to drop to his knee, I was lucky he could have broken my hold on his finger's and blocked my knee hit.

" What do you want!!" I shouted in his face.

"To drag you back to my class obviously, no student of mine is skipping my class and definitely not you." he said matter of fact. I couldn't help but barge past him and head back towards his class, I knew if I didn't go after being asked I could risk exclusion or punishment far worse.

As I stormed back into the class room I looked around for Amy who had saved me a seat next to her, as I proceeded to sit down, HE stalked back in with a smile as if nothing had happened.. Typical arrogant man. He never could resist trying to charm everybody.

"Welcome to shifter lore, I'm your teacher Luca's King, I expect nothing but perfection during this class, As I'm sure you have many question's as to why a King is here to teach, the answer is simple, it's none of your business." Lucas stated.

As I looked around the class room, all the shifter's eyes were downcast as if to avoid his gaze even Amy, as I nudged her in the ribs she raised her eye's to mine.

"why are you avoiding his eyes?" I questioned with confusion in my tone, I just didn't get it.

As she visibly gulped I knew it wasn't good news..

"He is the Alpha of all shifter's... It would be taken as a challenge to his right as Alpha an a challenge would happen. He's never been beaten, nobody dare's to challenge him." she whispered while sneaking peaks at Lucas to make sure he wasn't watching, but he could probably hear everything she had just said. As I glanced up I could see him carrying on with the lesson while smirking towards Amy and I.

As he droned on about shifter lore, I couldn't help but stare directly at him with a scowl on my face, I never knew why he left my home, but now I knew, he must not have been able to hold the spell disguising his scent.

Speaking of scent's his was AMAZING, like freshly laid snow and candy canes, how I loved those. My guilty pleasure in life.. Candy Canes.. It was mouthwatering.

It's a shame they had to be mixed with him, I couldn't get over his betrayal of my family, for whatever sinister reason he decided to train me when I was younger, he must have had other objective's like finding out information before disappearing a year later.

"Shifter's all respond to an Alpha in pack's, but everybody respond's to the King Alpha, which is me. As you have noticed shifter's have avoided my eye's so far in this lesson as it is seen as a challenge with any species, even mountain lion shifters will not rise to meet my gaze for more than a few seconds." He droned onwards talking about pack rank's, an a bunch of stuff I already knew due to my private tutoring.

I zoned back in when the word mate was mentioned as all girl's would do, I could see many sit up straighter and puff out there chest to try attract attention, but his eye's never left mine.

" Mate's for shifters tend to be within their own species but with powerful Alphas they can be any race, Witch, Vampire, Shifter, Mage, Dragon. Hybrid's are also included in this plus humans of course." he said.

"Mate's are found at all age's of life, as we are long lived, but it is rare to find said Mate, as it can include many trips abroad to different country's trying to find him or her, but then there is the difficulty as to if you can recognize them, the younger you are the less you understand the pull of the bond, it start's with Scent, it will appeal mouthwatering and like you cannot get enough of it into your lungs" he huffed as if it was all fun and game's.

Kayla's arm shot up before he had even finished his little paragraph of speech.

"Have you found your Alpha mate? If so when did you meet her?" she asked politely while batting her eyelashes at him.

"I have indeed found my mate, but as to how we met, it is yet to be public knowledge, much less she has not been informed of the pull." he said to Kayla with a sigh.

"why not just claim her and make her accept the bond, she would be stupid to resist somebody as high ranked as you." she asked in a duh tone while rolling her eye's.

As he went to answer her question the lunch bell sounded to say the morning lesson's were over for today and it was time for food.

Fantastic! I am starving! As I collected my note book and waited for Amy, I could feel his stare directly in my back as if my whole body was aware of him, but I knew It was nothing, it couldn't be anything dramatic, as Amy joined me to walk out the class towards lunch, I couldn't help but inhale his scent, I was just drawn to it!

In the hall it was like a celebrity couple was walking down the middle as people split to the side's to give room, I couldn't help but watch to who it was. I didn't expect it to be my chosen mate who was with a blonde bimbo who walked one step behind, I now got why people had parted towards the side's, he looked to be on a mission to find somebody, an with a face like thunder, I pitied that person.

As he kept walking his gaze flew over the people and landed on me and remained as he walked towards where I stood in the doorway to my previous class.

As he came to a stop in front of me, I could see a predatory smirk taking over his face, it actually reached his eye's. The bimbo had stopped a few pace's away as if she had heard about our last encounter.

"Hello, Mate. I hope you enjoyed your class as it will be the only time you get close to shifter's, after we're mated, you will be stuck in the palace, by my side, as I order them to kill all the shifter's you care about, pity really, there are some cute one's shame they all smell like wet dog!" he summarized.

Before I could speak it felt like a weight had descended on the hallway, crushing my will to speak as with everybody else, the power of an Alpha was strong and he used this power on his pack to stop disobedient pack member's.

As Lucas entered the hallway, his power swirled around him inflicting his will on everybody present.

"Mate? Where? All I see is a king wannabe, who think's to control his other half, an plus if you had a mate she would kill you before she was claimed. If you are referring to Winter, SHE IS TAKEN." He Growled. 

"Now, walk away" He ordered my chosen mate, as if compelled he stormed away towards lunch, with his hands fisted by his sides.

As his power disappeared as if it was never there, the hallway immediately interrupted into chaos as people talked over what had happened, as for me?

I walked away dragging Amy along with me.

TAKEN? I THINK NOT. ESPECIALLY NOT BY HIS ARROGANT ASS.
