Winter's Choice

Chapter 8

After Lunch it was free study till 3pm which is pretty weird I must admit..  With not much else to do I retreat outside and decide to walk around the grounds, as I walk towards the woods surrounding the school, I hear a howl, an instantly my senses reach out to get a feel for my surroundings, as my hearing intensifies I can hear signs of a fight to the right, with growls vibrating around the tree's and barking, without thinking I speed through the tree's towards the wolves, as I advance I can see a gap in the tree's which lead to a valley filled with wild flower's and in the middle is a group of wolves circling around a female white wolf, they all take turns to growl and attempt to bite at her side's, leg's anything they can get, as I speed up towards her, I can see the blood starting to stain her beautiful white coat, she's much smaller than the other wolves as she's an Artic Wolf, rare this side of England, but with the pack mentality towards Rogue's, I'm guessing she isn't welcome.

As I approach, a male has managed to grab onto her back hind leg and is attempting to pull her off balance, as I'm running to her aid I remove my bracelet as soon as its in my hand it begins to shimmer and change.

Into a black dagger, which iv practised with my whole life, I firstly attack the wolf gripping her hind leg, I send a kick into his leg instantly snapping it with my full strength, soon after I grip the scruff of his neck and spin an throw him away, soon as I turn to face the other wolves they have started to asses the new threat and as usual I'm the biggest threat to them, as the female is injured and fighting against another male, they begin to circle me in pair's shoulder to shoulder, looking for a weakness, I widen my stance and hold my dagger to my side preparing for anything.

As they just continue to circle me, I can't help but sigh, I thought they would at least put up a fight.

"Come on you Fleabag's, I don't have all day, plus only coward's attack a lone female." I snarl at them, As my words register one immediately charges to my left side going for my leg, as I dance back on my toes to avoid his wide jaw's filled with razor sharp teeth, I bring my arm up to block my throat, just incase he decides to try and jump. 

I flick a quick glance at the second wolf noting he is just watching his friend try an attack me, seems I picked the best fighter in wolf form, he doesn't even seem worried for his friend. Focusing on the wolf who is stood in front of me snarling, I snap a foot into the side of his face to throw him off balance, then I rush to grab his jaw's and begin to bend his face back to his back leg's causing him to drop onto his side,  as I place my knee and force my weight onto his rib's, he continues struggling as the first rib crack's, he lets out a yelp and then continues to whine as more snap due to my pressure to incapacitate him so he can't continue to join the fight, as I raise my dagger and slice through one of his muscle's on his paw, something attacks me from behind knocking me away from the downed wolf, as I twist and turn to try throw the thing off my back I feel fangs grip my shoulder biting deep into the bone, I cant help but scream as the pain registers, on instinct I grab for the head to try and pull it off my shoulder, as  continue to grab I get lucky and scratch something squishy causing the jaws to rip from my shoulder and retreat, as I put my hand to halt the bleeding on my shoulder, I spin around an see the other wolf rubbing his paw along his face as if to rub his eye!

Not wasting a second I throw my dagger into his leg and run towards him and grab both of his jaws and pull them apart, slowly as he fight's and bucks to dislodge my hands, as I pull them wider the bottom jaw snaps causing agonizing yelps and whines from the wolf, as I allow myself to be bucked off I grab my dagger and pull it from his leg, as soon as my feet land on the ground again, I spin and begin running towards the last four wolves who are taunting the lone wolf, as a group they leave her and begin to attack my leg's and arms, I cant help but struggle trying to protect my throat as my shoulder is making it hard to keep a clear head and with the blood loss, I'm hardly at my best, as soon as I think I don't stand a chance against four fully grown male wolves, one grips my thigh ripping through my clothes and continuing to pull on my skin as he forces his jaws to dig deeper and rip through to the bone, as I'm pulled off balance, it save's my life as I hadn't noticed one wolf jump towards my throat. 

As I continue to be attacked on the ground while I'm on my back one once again lunges for my throat, I quickly raise my bad arm to block the teeth, which grab to the skin biting deep, I bring up my other arm, putting my power behind a strike, I drive my dagger into the side of his face, forcing his jaw's to loosen an for him to drop onto  my chest. As I rip the dagger from its spot, I try to push myself out from under the wolf, as I struggle to dislodge the fat wolf, I hear a howl to the left, and the sound of paw's thudding against the earth, as I turn back to dislodging the wolf one has used it as a ladder and is staring down into my eye's while pulling his gum's back to show teeth, as his jaw's widen ready for the killing bite to my throat, he is ripped away from my sight by another massive wolf, An Alpha,  I can't help but notice the midnight black coat, with sharp green eye's as he continues to rip into the wolf who tried to kill me.

As soon as the wolf is laying dead on the ground I chance a quick look around noticing the female huddled on her side whining, with none of the other wolves present apart from the Alpha, with the blood loss setting in, I keep fighting to stay awake as the Alpha approaches the lone female growling as he does, all Alphas reserve the right to kill rogue's on sight for none other reason other than to be because they have no pack. Barbaric.

As my vision begins to fade I whisper "Please, Don't hurt her". As everything Goes black.
