Chapter 84

1363 Words

Author's POV It felt like his head was under water and he could barely breathe. It was a bit ironic that he could solve a lot of problems in the pack but was clueless on how to help her. The look of disappointment when he stepped in alone would forever haunt him. "Do you want anything?" he offered, instead of giving in to her request. He crouched slightly, trying to catch her gaze. Kayla didn’t move, her eyes fixed on the ceiling. Her expression was distant, as if the weight of the world rested on her shoulders alone. "Kayla." His tone softened, almost pleading. "Talk to me. Anything. Yell if you need to, but don’t sit there like this. It’s... unsettling." Her lips twitched, but not into a smile. "I’m tired, Raymond," she murmured, her voice barely audible. "I just want to go home."
