Combat :The Blue period

The old building could be seen ,it was in  dilapidated condition. The metal board was rusted to a point that one could only make out words as S.R.Y and not St Merry. No one could in their wildest dream  would imagine such an orphanage .It was located in dense ,dark forest with tragedy of thousand  people dying by  mass suicide, the reason still unknown .There have been  many  stories and theories about it from native people who used to live here but soon moved out as they claimed that at  fortnight of  every month   thick mist would cover the forest  and one could hear shrilling  voice of those who died. Many people believed that forest was in grasp of haunted spirits of dead who wanted revenge from people who live happily because they couldn't . They were terrified for their life and soon seek help  of mighty  priest who advised them to burn down whole forest ,so as to chase away spirits .They all left forest and set it on fire, while it was burning, many of them saw golden light surrounding the forest and engulfing it before it eventually faded. No one  knew what happen, the key to secret  have been buried with death.  The builder decided to build orphanage here because of the sole reason that price of land was way more cheaper than others. St merry got adequate  funding in the beginning years of its establishment, but soon suffered , because the  man who was their  biggest donator  passed away .The amount that was collected every month was barely enough for running such enormous orphanage. Also as it was situated in such depth  and horrific place ,people were afraid to visit or even adopt children .There were some rare cases where  people would actually be considerate enough to adopt child. It was fortnight of month of November when suddenly sky became dark and clouds gray, strong gust of wind start passing and soon rain started pouring heavily. Weather was turning worst by each passing second ,dust particles were flying ,branches of tree were  falling, everything was hysteric. Water have reached up to knee length and if it rise further more, than orphanage would be flooded with water .The maiden lady dressed in white gown looked outside the window with panic visible in eyes. She was continuously chatting prayer and was holding sacred thread. All of sudden winds stopped flowing and rain subsided too .It became silent and way too calm for liking .There was an sudden eruption of golden light which sweep over whole forest and within seconds it faded away and forest was surrounded by thick mist again, The maiden lady who witness  this was dumbfound, she couldn't believe what she actually saw, she was snapped out of her pensive when an old caretaker shouted for her to come out in hall immediately .She rushed to hall in haste , only to found a small bundle of baby wrapped in satin white cloth in the arms of old  caretaker .She slowly moved  towards caretaker and with trembling hands carried child. The child was beautiful ,she had blue sapphire eyes which were enchanting and held so much depth .The  caretaker handed her note which read 'Katherine ' . The maiden lady stare at beautiful baby who was left at the doorstep .She didn't knew what fate has planned for this child but if god has chosen her then who was she to deny the almighty. She believed that this child being alive itself was an  indication from the god that this child was their to  upheaval the destiny .  Yes they were in tough situation and were barely able to put  food on plate but this was ST MERRY orphanage  a place for a merlin child , everyone comes for a reasons and leaves for too. She handed child to old caretaker and told her to change her in something warm and let her sleep in her room .The old care taker was in denial ,she didn't knew why maiden lady would take her in when they were already drowning in pit of poverty. Maiden lady noticed the denial on old caretake face and patted her head in assurance and said in calm voice "Norris , believe me we gonna be fine ." Norris didn't seem to believe her word but never the less nodded and went away leaving maiden lady alone in hall. Maiden lady strolled in  the dark corridor of Orphanage her mind was wondering around what have happen .She had hear about the myths related to this forest ,but she never believe in trivial things like that. She even thought that there was no place like hell and heaven .She often  hear people speaking that "You will end up in hell ,for what you did to me " ,"Go to hell", "God will send you to hell " and many more .She though of those people as fool who uttered nonsense .How could we tell that heaven and hell do exist ?There is no path to either hell or heaven neither it is on map. She believed that one ends up paying for their sin in their present life span, why ruin other for the sake of present . She was intrigued by Golden light though, what was it ?Was their any other world beside the one we are living in? And if it is ,what mystery does it held? And can one from this world open the door to other like they do ? Her head was full of questions which had no answers ,not at that time. One needs to search for it and she was wiling to search for answers not for herself but for the sake of child .She  knew in future she would need to answer Katherine and she didn't want her to gave her any empty answers which didn't held any meaning . Suddenly someone put their hand on her shoulder but instead of being startled by it she seem calm and compose. She turned towards the person and said "You saw it didn't you "  The moonlight fall on the face of person showing deep scar running from his forehead to the right cheeks .The man eyes were the dark shade of brown with pointed nose .  "Yes, I did and from what I sense it is the only beginning of the history that is waiting to repeat ."said person in cold voice "Gil-da ,what do you mean ?" asked maiden lady in tense voice "Whatever is happening is not right ,the wheel of time has turned ,only future could tell what will happen the girl had her fate written, it would be on her whether she would able to defy it or will accept it " "That's not my answer "  "Lorenz don't rush it " "Are you kidding me Gil-da ,you are telling me not to rush when there is life at stake" "Even if I tell you ,you won't be of any help " "That's for me to decide " Before Gil-da could say anything she was interrupted by care taker who came rushing towards them. "Ma'am that girl has fever " old care taker said huffing "WHAT??" exclaimed Lorenz she quickly rushed towards her room closely followed by care taker and Gil-da. She quickly went towards the small figure that was lying on bed crying miserably. She quickly touched baby's forehead to found it blazing hot. Lorenz quickly ordered Old care taker to bring bowl of water  Old care taker quickly ran to kitchen and came with water and handed it to maiden lady ,she quickly soaked towel it in it squeezed water out of it and started caressing  Katherine with her so her temperature would go down. She gave Gil-da look and she ran to close all windows so as to stop cold air from flowing in room. After 30 min of constant soaking squeezing and repeating process finally Katherine fever went down and her crying ceased too. She hugged Katherine and could feel soft and cold body against her .She swore she would protect her .At that moment Katherine became her daughter that she once had .She could feel tears streaming down her face and Gil-da took Katherine away from Lorenz allowing her to have a moment . Gil-da pitifully looked at Lorenz she knew what made this strong willed women crying .She wanted to share her pain and console her but then again how can she share her pain when she never tasted it .She didn't want to fake it ,she was rational women but at moments like this she allowed her emotional side to take over. She herself has fare taste of life which has left long lasting impression on her heart .She knew life was not beautiful like she had read in books nor love was fascinating and everlasting like they mention in. But what she saw her it uprooted her believes in this empty question, she never thought it would be so cruel .The only thing she learn from that horrific incident was the most dangerous thing in this world is human and the most terrifying among us is we ourselves .We always keep surpressing our emotion and wear facade until we loose thread of sanity and are driven to the madness that is cryptical. Sometimes knowing too much is harmful not only to other but oneself too .It  would be better if some things are left unknown ,curiosity  kills and she really didn't want anyone to die . She looked at sleeping baby in her arms which remind her of wild flower, which were never planted but for some reason they grow ,this girl was exactly like wild flower growing at place she should never be . But again wild flower pave their own way just how this child be doing. But calling her Wild flower is kind of irony as she will be far away from happiness and optimism . She laid baby down on bed and went to Lorenz who seem like a statue except it breaths. She bend towards her and sat down near her on floor, she didn't care that floor was freezing cold . She patted her back lightly. After few minutes of silence Lorenz stood up with quirky movement and looked at Gil-da with an unrecognizable emotion . She turned towards old care taker and told her to retire to bed .  Old care taker left without saying anything honestly she was glad that finally she could go back in the safety of her dorm .She noticed cold vibes emitting from Maiden lady and she already had enough for day . She won't provoke her by showing her disdain about little brat . Gil-da who was sitting on floor stood up and was about to leave but was stopped by a hand on her wrist she turned around to meet cold eyes of Lorenz . "Lorenz.. leave me you need rest and so does baby" Gil da said  "Gil-da please help me, Help me save this child " Lorenz said  "It's not in our hand why regret over thing we won't be able to protect ,this would lead us no where ."  "That's for me to find . I would rather regret than blaming myself for not even trying to protect the soul I was capable of ." "You would be wishing you never heard of it lorenz .I am warning you ,but you are pushing  me " "But still you are hell stubborn and won't bulge ." "I promise you Lorenz I would reveal everything when right times come .Till than trust me on this " "I..trust ..you gil-da but " "Trust is all it matter ..goodnight Lorenz" said Gil-da and left from there . Lorenz stood their in daze tears of frustration streaming out of her eyes. She was desperate she didn't know why but she was ..she didn't have heart or strength to take another blow. She was weak and she  dislike it . She only wished her heart was made of stone so she didn't have to feel this agonizing pain that would stab her and was bounded to her. She want to be free from this guilt that's what she had given the name to her incapability.      She laid beside baby and her gaze fell at the innocent smile of sleeping baby .She allowed exhaustion to took over her and she left with frown adorned on her face. ***************************************************************************** Lorenz wake up with small baby sleeping soundly . Her thoughts were messed up. It was still early in the morning .She decided to have walk around the courtyard .She kissed baby on forehead and build boundary of pillows so as to save baby from falling.  She was walking in the courtyard inhaling the sweet air of the morning mixed with smell of wet mud . After the storm last night everything has turned more entralling and captivating. One could see the water droplets on leaves and flowers along with small streams of water. The weather was cool and peaceful yet one can sense something was different . Lorenz was about to return in safety of orphanage when she heard whistling which was uncanny .She found herself moving towards the sound .
