Cloud Mountain - Chapter 5

Roy was shocked when Cathy handed him the paper with the marriage divination. As he looked down and read the words "Extremely Bad," his face immediately changed.

Trembling, he couldn't make up his mind and turned to Cathy, saying, "This... this divination..."

Cathy waved her hand at him and said kindly, "Butler, is Prince Alex still in the palace? Go and ask him quickly. I'll rest on the wall for a while and wait for your return."

After speaking, she was about to climb the wall again.

Roy woke up and quickly stopped her, saying, "Lady Cathy, we have chairs. You don't need to rest on the wall anymore." He immediately instructed a servant, "Hurry up, go and bring a chair for the Lady to rest."

The servant acknowledged and hurried off.

Roy felt that this matter was important, and he couldn't make decisions on his own. Fortunately, Prince Alex was in the palace today. He quickly said to Cathy, "My Lady, please wait. Prince Alex is currently in the palace. I will go and ask him."

Cathy nodded and said, "Alright, go ahead!"

Roy took the paper and immediately ran to Alex's study.

The study was far from the entrance of the palace. Roy ran for ten minutes before reaching the study. He stopped at the door, gasping for breath, and said, "Your Highness..." After uttering two words, he took a deep breath. "Lady Cathy... she brought a piece of paper and asked me to... deliver it to you."

Alex had already been informed that Cathy had arrived, but he didn't pay much attention. He continued sitting at the table, reading the documents. Now, upon hearing Roy's breathless words, he furrowed his brow slightly and asked, "What paper?"

Roy dared not mention the ominous divination, so he immediately said, "You... will know when you see it."

Alex put down the documents and said, "Give it to me."

Roy hurriedly stepped in and approached the desk. Separated by a pile of documents, he handed the paper to Alex.

Alex reached out and took the paper, which had a sentence written on it:

No marriage, no fate; flowers bloom without fruit; beginnings without endings.

At the end, it said: "If seeking your mate, it is an omen of 'great misfortune'."

Alex stared at the writing on the paper for a moment and looked up to ask Roy, "Where is she now?"

Roy quickly replied, "She is currently at the entrance, Your Highness." As he spoke, he promptly recounted his encounter with Cathy and conveyed her message.

After speaking, he secretly glanced at Alex's expression and quietly wiped the sweat from his forehead.

Upon hearing this, Alex suddenly laughed, his voice as cool as ever. "She really does everything to make me call off this marriage."

Roy gasped in response, too afraid to speak.

In his thoughts, he recalled last year when Prince Alex chose his mate. So many people eagerly awaited the announcement. When they heard that the Prince had chosen Cathy from the Moon Lake pack, so many hearts shattered, including Luna's. Being Prince Alex's mate, the most esteemed woman in the future Shadow Ridge, was a position that all Alpha's daughters dreamed of.

But it seemed that Lady Cathy was not very willing to accept this marriage.

Last year, the Luna of the Cloud Mountain pack issued the decree for the marriage. The messenger went to the Moon Lake pack to deliver the decree. When Cathy heard about the decree, she thought it was a mistake and sent the messenger back to ask if the Prince had made an error. The elders of the Moon Lake pack seemed to agree with her, thinking that there might have been a genuine mistake. The messenger had no choice but to return and ask Prince Alex. So, amidst his busy schedule, the Prince took a few days off and personally brought the decree to the Moon Lake pack. He handed it to Cathy in front of the elders of the pack, and only then did Cathy confirm that the decree was not mistaken.

When the Luna heard about this, she became so angry that she fell ill for a week. After issuing the decree, she didn't push for the marriage and acted as if she had forgotten.

But the Moon Lake pack was also not in a hurry and seemed to have forgotten about this matter.

Until this year, the Luna felt that they couldn't delay any longer and it would be better to proceed with Prince's marriage sooner. Despite several attempts to persuade her son to cancel the engagement and choose another mate, he remained indifferent and insisted that the choice had been made and would not change. After unsuccessful persuasion, the Luna gave up and resignedly handled the matter for the Prince.

The Luna believed it was necessary for Cathy to come to the palace and learn the rules of the pack before the marriage. So, after discussing with her son, and with his approval, they sent a message to the Moon Lake pack, saying that they would send someone to bring Cathy to the palace to familiarize herself with the rules. The Moon Lake pack immediately responded, saying they would follow His Highness's instructions.

However, unexpectedly, before Prince Alex could send someone to fetch her, Cathy sent a message with a dried branch of flowers, saying that she would come on her own and there was no need for the Prince to receive her.

She traveled to the Cloud Mountain pack for a month and a half, which was an unprecedentedly long journey.

Finally, today she arrived, but she brought an ominous divination...

If this divination truly came from the Witch's House, ten miles north of the pack, then it should not be taken lightly. After all, this Witch's House has a long history and is well-known for its accurate fortune-telling and divination.

After Alex finished laughing, he weighed the paper in his hand and said, "Go and tell her that I have never believed in divination. If she feels that this sign is unfavorable and affects her mood to enter the palace, tomorrow I will send someone to invite the witch and have her perform another divination."

Upon hearing this, Roy quickly responded, "I will go right away."

Alex put down the paper and picked up the document, flipping through it.

Roy left the study, took a deep breath, and hurriedly ran towards the entrance without delay.

At the entrance, Cathy sat on a chair, swinging her legs leisurely while chatting with the guards.

In normal times, the guards of the palace would not casually gather and chat. Each person diligently did their work, and even the guards of the gate maintained their discipline and did not gather for conversation.

Now, when Cathy talked to them, based on her identity as the future Luna, they dared not remain silent and stood in front of Cathy in an orderly manner. She asked a question, and they answered.

After chatting for a while, Cathy felt that the guards were too rigid and boring. They all seemed the same, so she shouted outside, "Elsa, where are you hiding?"

Elsa replied softly from outside the wall, "Miss Cathy, I'm here."

Cathy called out to her, "Come in and chat with me."

Elsa's mouth twitched, and she whispered, "My Lady, you had better save your saliva. We might not even get a glass of water from the palace and have to leave."

She truly felt that Cathy bringing such an ominous divination to the Prince was simply... indescribable.

Cathy sneered, leaned back, covered her face with her sleeve, closed her eyes, and disdainfully chuckled in her heart. If Alex could be easily swayed like that, just one divination would make him change his mind, she wouldn't have been struggling for a year without making him withdraw from this marriage.
