Roy didn't dare to delay and ran all the way from the study to the entrance. When he arrived at the gate, he squatted down and gasped for breath.
It had been many years since he had run like this.
Cathy listened to his footsteps getting closer and closer, almost out of breath. She rolled up her sleeves and looked at him with a smile, "Butler, why are you running so fast? I don't mind waiting."
Roy quickly stood up and respectfully lowered his head to Cathy. "Although you don't mind waiting, I dare not let you wait for long." He then relayed Alex's words exactly as instructed.
Cathy knew that Alex was difficult to deal with. Even if she brought an ominous divination, he wouldn't break off the engagement and choose another mate. She didn't have any expectations, so there was no disappointment. After listening to Roy's words, she nodded. "Well, since your Prince is highly regarded and I am nothing compared to him, if he doesn't care, then I shouldn't either. If we end up disliking each other in the future and have a bad relationship, it's his decision, and I can't be blamed. You will be my witness."
Roy wiped the sweat from his forehead and hurriedly said, "No, Prince Alex and you are a perfect match. My Lady, let me take you to your residence. It has been prepared for you two months ago."
Cathy nodded and called outside, "Elsa, come in! You can have some water."
Elsa hurriedly ran in from outside and bowed to Roy, saying, "Hello, Butler. I am Elsa, the maid of Lady Cathy."
Roy was surprised, carefully examining Elsa, and a smile appeared on his face as he warmly replied, "Elsa, although Lady Cathy is currently a guest in the palace, she will be the Luna of the pack in the future. From now on, you will accompany her and reside in the palace. If you need anything, just let me know."
Elsa nodded repeatedly and said, "I understand. I will rely on you, Butler Roy."
Roy chuckled and said, "No need for such formality. The palace has more rules compared to the Moon Lake pack, but since you are the maid of the Lady, as long as you don't make any trouble, you'll be fine here."
Elsa nodded and glanced at Cathy, secretly hoping that her lady would stop causing trouble. Since there was no other choice, she had better peacefully marry the Prince. Otherwise, she feared that both their lives would be ruined by her lady's self-destructive behavior.
Roy led the two of them into the palace.
The palace was incredibly vast, with numerous rooms and corridors stretching endlessly.
Although the Moon Lake pack occupied a considerable area, Cathy couldn't help but feel that the packhouse she lived in paled in comparison to the grandeur of the palace.
As they walked, Roy respectfully informed Cathy, "My Lady, your room has been arranged in the West Hall. The palace consists of two parts located side by side: the East Hall and the West Hall. The Prince resides in the East Hall, while you will stay in the West Hall."
Cathy raised an eyebrow and asked, "Who used to live in the West Hall?"
Roy shook his head and replied, "It was always reserved for the future Luna. Before the Prince chose his mate, it remained unoccupied. It was prepared for you upon your arrival to the pack."
Cathy nodded. She thought, even before marrying Alex, she moved directly into the West Hall. Her position was truly secure.
Inside the West Hall, a group of people awaited her arrival. When Cathy entered, they all welcomed her in unison, "Welcome to the West Hall, My Lady."
Cathy scanned the hall with her eyes and counted about fourteen or fifteen people.
Roy halted his steps and respectfully said, "My Lady, these people have been carefully selected to serve you. Are they sufficient? If not, I can send more."
Cathy felt that there were more than enough people. It was simply too many. In the Moon Lake pack, she only had Elsa with her. However, the palace was different from her packhouse. There were many rules. Living here in the palace might be dull and boring, so it would be better to have more people around to liven things up. She nodded, "It's enough."
Seeing that Cathy had no objections, Roy immediately instructed those people, "Lady Cathy has traveled a long way and was tired. Each of you should fulfill your duties without making any mistakes."
Everyone responded in unison.
After leaving the West Hall, Roy pondered along the way. It seemed that the future Luna was easy to talk to and serve, unlike the rumors said. How could she have caused so much trouble that made Prince Alex, who was busy with pack affairs last year, have to allocate a significant portion of his time to dealing with her? Upon learning of her arrival at the pack, he became extremely attentive and dared not be careless.
By the time Cathy finished bathing, changing clothes, and having a meal, two hours had already passed. She didn't feel uncomfortable in any way. After being attended to by the servants, she climbed into bed, filled with drowsiness.
Elsa stood by her side, and when there was no one in the room, she whispered, "Miss Cathy, have you seen Rob? Is he not in the palace?"
Cathy yawned and replied, "He's probably in some prison cell."
Elsa was stunned and asked, "Did Prince Alex accuse him of a crime?"
Cathy closed her eyes, found a comfortable position, and said, "Compared to the palace, I think he prefers staying in a prison cell." She patted Elsa's cheek and continued, "Aren't you tired? Go rest. Instead of worrying about him, let's think about where we'll go in the pack tomorrow."
Elsa's lips twitched, and she replied, "Miss Cathy, we've been on the road for a month and a half before entering the pack. Now that we're in the palace, we're unfamiliar with the surroundings. Let's stay here tomorrow and get familiar with the environment. It's better to settle down for a few days before you start exploring."
Cathy snorted and said, "I've never seen you so cautious before. Why are you being nagging now?"
Helplessly, Elsa lowered the curtains for her and left the room.
Being new to the place, Elsa couldn't simply fall asleep like Cathy. No matter how tired or sleepy she was, she had to gather her spirits and chat with the servants in the West Hall, exchange information, and learn about the affairs of the palace.
Cathy didn't think much of it. Elsa couldn't be like her. Although these servants were all serious and reserved, they would answer her questions and treat her, the only maid accompanying the future Luna, with respect. They were relatively easy to deal with.
Roy entered Alex's study and faithfully repeated Cathy's response word for word.
After listening, Alex nodded silently.
Roy, seeing that he hadn't been given any instructions, left the study. Just as he was about to step out of the room, Alex suddenly spoke up, "Tomorrow morning, tell her about Beta Jackson's birthday and the need for a gift. Let her arrange it and see what gift she wants to give Beta. Tell her that the gift should not be worthless or too valuable."
Roy's footsteps abruptly halted, and he felt a sudden shock. The Lady had just arrived today, and Prince Alex entrusted such an important matter to her. He didn't dare speculate on his intentions and quickly replied, "Yes, I will inform Lady Cathy tomorrow morning."
Alex nodded and continued, "Have all the servants pay their respects to her tomorrow morning and hand over all the accounts of the palace to her. From tomorrow, the internal affairs of the palace will be under her management."
Roy's eyes widened in shock, and he stood there dumbfounded for a while before coming to his senses. He thought to himself, Lady Cathy just arrived today and wasn't familiar with the environment and rules yet, but tomorrow she will be given authority over the affairs of the palace. Isn't this too much of a burden on her?
Who can manage a household without being familiar with it? Especially such a vast palace.
He looked at the Prince, who had a calm expression and didn't seem to be joking. He opened his mouth but ultimately didn't dare to speak, quickly lowering his head in acknowledgment. Seeing that he had no further instructions, he slowly left the study. As the early summer breeze blew, he finally realized that his back was already damp with cold sweat.
