Jerry and Kenny began to dance together. Kenny realized that he wasn’t consuming any drinks himself, so he took Jerry's drink and gave it to him. While they danced, Kenny kept handing Jerry drinks. A little time passed, and both Jerry and Kenny were still moving on the dance floor. However, Jerry started to feel a bit lightheaded from the many drinks he had taken. He confided in Kenny, saying, “Kenny, I can’t handle any more; I think I’m drunk.”
“Don’t worry, I’ll take care of you,” Kenny replied. They continued to enjoy themselves, but soon Jerry began to sweat and was nearly drenched. Kenny observed this and decided to assist him by taking Jerry to a room where he could rest. The following day, Jerry awoke in an unfamiliar room.
He woke up with a striking headache, he tried to stand up. There he realised that he was only wearing a pair of pants. Kath entered suddenly without knocking “Why did you enter without knocking” Jerry asked.
“Jerry that’s not the issue at hand” Kath replied
“Issue at hand? What do you mean?” Jerry asked
“Some officers are currently outside searching for you.”
“Detectives are searching for me?” Jerry quickly grabbed a shirt and a pair of pants as he hurried down the stairs.
He encountered everyone in the living room waiting for him.
“What happened, Jerry?” Mr. Francis inquired.
“I have no idea, Dad,” Jerry answered.
One of the officers approached Jerry, stating, “You are under arrest. Please place your hands behind your back.”
Before he could object, his mother, Mrs. Hanna Evans, rose from her chair, saying, “Please, dear, don’t resist the arrest.”
“You are being charged with s****l assault.” Everyone gasped in disbelief, but the officer attempted to clarify that he was simply carrying out his duties.
Mr. Francis grabbed his phone to contact his friends at the station, while Jerry was taken to the police station and his family followed in a car behind them.
Jerry was taken to an interrogation room where he was told his crime and what he was being charged with.
Jerry was asked to stand behind a wall, and the lady that accused him of r**e stood behind a tinted glass where she identified Jerry as the man that assaulted her.
Jerry was surprised by this “Lady are you sure it’s me?” he asked the lady behind the tinted glass.
“He turns to the detective in the room please can I see who I am talking to?”
The detective showed him some pictures of the lady,
“Who is thus?” he asked the detective.
The detective replied this is the lady that accused you of r**e.
“I have never seen this lady in my life?” Jerry tried to explain to the detective but it was all in vain. There are some witnesses at the scene. He was shown some incriminating evidence, the picture clearly showed him standing on the lady shown to him earlier.
Jerry's mouth was wide open “What… how and what is this?”
“We were told by some of the witnesses said you appeared drunk while assaulting her.
The detective was not having it he said to Jerry “I am just giving you a chance to come clean...”
“Come clean? You say. I did nothing and I should not be treated like an animal.” He tried his best to talk to the detective. Jerry’s dad Mr Francis Evans
“I heard you’re being charged with r**e can you please explain yourself
“Dad I know nothing about this and please you need to believe me.”
His dad did not seem all convinced but to a degree, he knew his son and would not let something bad happen to his only son.
Right now we need to think carefully, not speak a word from here on word, and show no emotion. He urges his son to wait for his lawyer. Jerry was reprehended back to his cell, he await bail from the court.
The next day. Kath came to visit her brother “How did this happen can you please explain”
“I have no idea Kath the last thing I remember was dancing with Kenny at the party before you barged into my room last time.
“Yeah, that reminds me, Jerry, have not seen Kenny since the other night.”
“You have not seen him?” Jerry asked
“YES!”
Jerry turned his face down for a moment before realising that it was not that important.
“By the way please tell David to visit me.”
The next day David visited Jerry at the station “My friend what happened? I heard what the detective had said. How did you end up like this?”
That’s what I wanted to ask you, do you have any CCTV camera from the other night that might help me with this case anything, reach out to almost anyone that saw me at the party”
Jerry continued to ask his friend for help, “What are the media saying?” he asked David.
“Your dad is trying his best to cover it up” David replied.
Jerry’s lawyer entered the waiting room and approached him with good news. “Good morning, Mr. Jerry Evans. My name is Samson Adams, and I will be your private lawyer handling this case. The judge has granted your bail, so we need to get you out of here as soon as possible.”
Jerry looked at him curiously and asked, “How?!”
“The judge has approved your bail, so get dressed, and let's leave now.”
Once Jerry was released from custody, David drove Jerry and his lawyer home. During the drive, the lawyer posed some important questions.
“Did you say anything that might incriminate you?” the lawyer asked.
“Not that I can think of,” Jerry replied.
“I need you to provide direct answers. That’s the only way we can strengthen your case.”
Jerry took a deep breath, reflecting on how everything had gone wrong in just a few days.
