Announcement of positions
Jerry’s dad's birthday is the day after his university graduation. He celebrated this with his entire family. Jerry's dad, popularly known as Francis Evans, is a multi-millionaire with a well-known tech company.
Many influential people attended his birthday party, including the mayor of the state and his wife. He marked his 70th birthday in style.
When Mr Evans went on stage, he brought a glass of wine with a spoon. He used this spoon to gently hit the glass, placing it near the microphone on the stage. Everyone turned their attention to Mr Evans to hear him out.
“Good evening, everyone here. You all don’t know how much this means to me,” he smiles, tears almost rolling down his face, before continuing his speech.
“I am grateful to all of you who took the time to attend my birthday party. My wife Hanna Evans for staying with me during the hard times. My workers Mr lee.”
Mr Evans went down, took his drink, and another glass. He gave this drink to Mr. Lee, “This man right here was there when I started my business. He was one of the people who motivated me to grow my business.”
He turned to Mr Lee and said to him “Thank you, my dear friend,” the entire room gave him a round of applause.
“I am not done,” he rushed to the stage bouncing with a big smile on his face. “My dad handed this company that you all now know as Evanscops to me when I was just 24 years of age before he sadly passed away.”
“I remember that the company then when my dad handed it over to me company worth just 20 million dollars back then, now the company is worth over 600 million dollars, almost 30 times more than what my dad left me.”
“Today I am handing over part of the company to my son Jerry, he will be the new CEO of my company while I rest at home with my lovely wife,” the whole crowd stood up applauding, jerry was surprised that his father would do this.
Kath Jerry's little sister went to give her brother a big hug “Congratulations Jerry, the new CEO of Evanscops congrats,” Jerry smiled teasing his little sister “You have to give me a lot of respect now that I am the CEO”
“Of course I will if I don’t who is going to pay going to pay for my bag collection” They both smiled and laughed.
The part ended a few hours after the announcement, jerry went to his room he was preparing to go to bed when his phone rang, and he checked his phone it was his boyfriend Matthew calling.
“Hello dear” Matthew replied “Hello Jerry, congratulations I just heard about your big promotion. I am so happy for you dear.” There was an undertone to his response did not feel like the way he respond to him.
“Have been meaning to call you” Matthew was a bit taken back by what he said “Okay am all here” Matthew heard a heavy breath on the phone “Matthew I would like it if we both break up”
“Break up? What happens? I can’t remember us having issues with one another”
“Matthew u have to understand, that I am the new CEO of my company and I need to be fully focused on my work. Plus there is a big chance our relationship might affect the company image.” Matthew was surprised. There was a silence before Matthew broke it off “We have remained hidden for a while now, I do not mind if we continue like this, and our relationship will remain completely hidden.”
“No, Matthew I can’t. I want to live a normal life. This will only affect both of us in the long run.”
Matthew was livid when he heard this “So you are telling me you want to end a 5-year relationship because of your new position at the company? You can’t do this to me, Jerry”
“We are talking about my career, my future you can’t just wake up one day and decide to end things” Matthew tried his best to persuade Jerry to continue the relationship with him but Jerry ended the call with him.
The next day Jerry sat in his room enjoying himself playing video games, he suddenly heard a knock at his door. “Who is there?” his younger sister ran to the door.
“Ooh, Matthew it’s you.” Jerry heard Matthews's name “Kath, who is at the door”
“It’s your friend Matthew” Matthew stood up angry at what he heard “Who told him I was around, I never asked him to come”
“Please tell him I am not around,” Matthew instructed his sister.
Matthew entered, and they both stared at each other “It has turned to this, pretending that you are not around?” Matthew looked guilty, he was not all pleased with what was happening, he knew deeply had hurt Matthew.
He turned to his sister who was confused about what was happening “Kath can you give us a moment please” Matthew and jerry remained silent and watched as Kath left the room.
Jerry broke the silence “I meant what I said yesterday. I have made myself clear I do not want our relationship to affect my career.”
Matthew looked surprised by all this, tears almost rolling down from his eyes “Jerry you can’t just leave me like this we have been together now for almost 5 years. Can’t you remember what we have gone through? Why do you intend on breaking things off”
“Leave me alone Matthew, I am done with you” Matthew felt like the world was crashing right in his present, he had hope that his present would make Jerry change his mind.
“Can’t you understand what I am trying to explain to you? My father’s company is more important than anything, I have to be the perfect son and you affect my perfection.”
Matthew stood there silent tears rolling down from his eyes, jerry saw this and decided to turn around.
“Okay, then I will leave you alone just like you want.” Matthew left the room crying, Kath noticed that Matthew was crying and leaving the house.
