“Matthew...” before Jerry could continue “I don’t want to hear this leave,”
“I know you and angry with me. I was just trying to be careful with my father and his company please Matthew find a way to forgive me.”
The man Matthew came with looked surprised about the whole situation, the exchange between Matthew and this strange man called Jerry seemed a little bit intense.
“Matthew was going on and who is this?” he asked.
“Chris meet Jerry my ex-boyfriend I told you about.” Chris looked at Jerry with very intense eyes, “Chris it’s not like that, I loved him, and we might not...” Before Matthew could continue he stopped him mid-track and said, “It’s fine if he didn’t break your heart I might not have met someone as wonderful as you.”
Jerry saw a ring on Matthew’s hand, he looked at Chris and saw another ring “Are you married?” with a big smile on Matthew's face “Yes we are married.”
“How did you do it from what I could tell our father is a strict man?” Jerry was so curious about how he did it,
“That’s a long story,” Matthew explained to him “After our break up I could not take it things were not going well and I was a bit down. But all that changed after I met with Chris. He showed me love till I completely forgot all about you. He showed me things you will never show.”
Jerry's cheeks flushed slightly as he realized how hurt Matthew must have felt. “I came out to my parents right after Chris proposed, just like you mentioned; he was initially against it and tried everything to come between us, but I chose Chris. He gave me an ultimatum, asking me to decide between him and my husband, and as you can see, I picked my husband.”
Jerry was taken aback by this revelation and sat in silence. “So you left your home for him?” Matthew confirmed with a nod, “Yes, Jerry, I left for him.”
“I apologize, Mr. Jerry, but my husband and I would like to take our leave now,” Jerry observed as Chris clasped Matthew’s hands and exited. He reflected on the fact that if he had taken the chance to stay with Matthew, perhaps he would be the one experiencing happiness with him now.
Jerry went home that day he kept thinking about the conversation he had with Matthew and his husband, and he started to rethink his choices and if it was all worth it. If sacrificing his happiness is worth what he was going through.
Jerry came back from work, He met his sister at the door waiting for him “Jerry I have a friend who is dying to meet you.”
Jerry did not pay attention to her, Kath noticed the expression on his face she said “Come on Jerry, he is a good friend of mine and I told him that you would be able to help. Please Jerry please!”
“Is he your boyfriend or what? You seem pretty anxious about me helping him” Jerry asked.
Kath smiled, but she said nothing. Jerry repeated his question “Is he your boyfriend?” Jerry noticed how Kath was behaving he was able to get an answer to his question.
Jerry walked to the room, and he saw a guy light-skinned African American, a little bit taller than him not much of a distance in height, pretty face and a bright smile. This guy was wearing a baggy jean and an oversized shirt with a little bit of visible silver chain.
Jerry's heart skipped for a moment, he was mesmerized for a moment. He kept looking at his for a few minutes. He kept thinking “How could someone be this handsome”
Jerry felt a hand “Jerry! Are you okay?” Kath asked out of concern
“Sorry I had a busy day, but I am okay,” he said trying to not call attention to himself.
“What’s his name?” Jerry asked
“My name is Kenny” he replied
“Kenny!” Jerry asked.
Jerry walked off, he kept staring at Kenny as he walked off.
The next day Jerry woke up early he headed to the living room to get water to drink a glass of water, and he saw Kenny shirtless. He noticed a small tattoo on his back, that looked like Skelton's skull.
Jerry turned his head to look at the tattoo, “Big bro” he heard Kath's voice calling him.
“Hey,” he said back to his sister.
“Wow you woke up early let me guess you are heading to woke” Kath said to Jerry.
Jerry smiled “So you have turned me to a workaholic?”
Kath laughed wide open “When have you not been one? Since Dad handed it over to you we hardly see you at home.”
Jerry busted out in laughter “And who has been ripping most of the benefit? Hum, I guess the name starts with K or something...”
“Stop right there. Let me enjoy my life. So are you going to work this early? Want me to make you breakfast” Kath kept on asking her brother.
“No, today am just going to rest” Jerry replied with a lot of gestures.
“And yes I would love it if you make me dinner.”
Kenny stood in a corner watching as his girlfriend and brother were playing he kept on smiling.
“Good morning Mr handsome” Kenny said to Jerry. This made Jerry smile because it was so sudden.
“Well done,” he sat in front of his sister and his friend.
“So what are your hobbies? Have any interest in sport?” Jerry asked Kenny.
Kenny was taken aback by the sudden interest in his life “Yes, I do like basketball and football.”
“Wow, what a combo you have there,” they both smiled at Jerry's comments.
“I like basket basketball but I hardly have time to play it.” Jerry adjusted his position while explaining to Kenny.
