She burst in, saying, “What’s going on? I just saw Matthew leave the house in tears. I tried to ask him about it, but he wouldn’t say a word. I realized you told me not to let him in and even instructed me not to open the door for him. Is your new role getting to your head? Is that the reason you’re pushing away your friends?”
Jerry was furious at the way his younger brother addressed him. “Did I request your input on this issue? The reason Matthew is upset is his business and doesn’t involve you. Get out of my room right now.”
Kath exited the room, sensing something was wrong but unsure of what it was or how to address it. She headed straight to her room.
“What the hell? Why is everything so complicated?” he yelled.
The first week Jerry resumed work he requested a meeting with the accountant, the financial controller, the chief financial officer, the financial analyst, and the bookkeeper.
He called a meeting on the company's financial issues, he realized that money entering the company bank was less than the money being recorded.
He met with his dad before going to the meeting, “Dad, I have something really important that I want to share with you”.
“What’s wrong Jerry? Talk to me, boy”
“I looked at our account recently I saw that a lot of money was missing. The money entering the account is far from the money being recorded” he handed the documents to his dad, so he could take a look.
He explained to his dad that over 40 million dollars was not reported and this has been happening for over 5 years.
Mr. Lee has been overseeing this department for over 20 years now, “I am having a meeting with the financial department and I want you to attend.”
Mr. Francis picked up his phone, he said: “John I need you here in the next few minutes bring your detective with you.”
Jerry's dad had called the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) “Dad who did you call”
“Don’t worry son, it’s a friend of mine”
The meeting went ahead as planned, “Mr Lee please can you explain why your department has a 40 million dollar that was not reported to the company?”
Mr Lee was stunned by what he had heard for the past few years he had successfully extorted money from the company without being caught.
He thought to himself “How did he find out, he has only been working here for the past few minutes.” Before he could get a chance to say something, Detective John entered.
“Mr Lee please can you get up can come with me?” he showed him the warrant for his arrest.
Mr Lee’s office was vandalised, while he was being apprehended and taken to custody.
A few days went by, and Mr. Francis and his wife were having breakfast at the table. They anticipated Jerry would join them, so Mr. Francis asked his maid, “Cherry, where is Jerry?”
“Mr. Jerry is still inside, sir,” she replied.
He instructed Cherry to check on him.
When Cherry returned, she said, “Mr. Jerry mentioned he is busy working, sir.”
“Working at this hour? Please call him...” Before he could finish his thought, Jerry emerged, saying, “I apologize, Dad. I was just wrapping up some work.”
“Don’t give me that excuse. Sit down and eat your food.” Jerry took his seat to have his meal.
Mr. Francis received a call, and in shock, he shouted, dropping his phone. He began to cry.
“What’s wrong, dear?” Hanna asked her husband, while Jerry paused eating, concerned about his father's reaction.
“I just received a call from John at the FBI. Mr. Lee has passed away from a heart attack while being questioned at their station.” An uncomfortable silence filled the dining room; the meal was ruined because of this news.
Jerry moved closer to his father to offer comfort, saying, “It’s not your fault, Dad,” as he embraced him before leading him to his room.
After two years Matthew and Jerry broke up, and Jerry decided to face his daddy's company. He wished to make him proud and build his dad's Tech Company, he had a wish to make it the world's best.
Jerry also tried to live a straight life, running away from being gay or things that might affect his image and his father’s company image but he could not keep a girlfriend, jerry had problems trying to keep a relationship.
On Kath's birthday, Jerry decided to go to a restaurant to celebrate his birthday, he brought her a cake to celebrate her birthday. Kath saw Matthew at the restaurant with a man-eating at the restaurant.
“Jerry is that not Matthew with a guy eating across our table,” Jerry turned his head immediately to see who she was talking about.
To his surprise he saw Matthew eating and laughing with each other, he saw how the strange guy took a spoonful of food and fed Matthew, while they both laughed.
Jerry turned to his sister, “Jerry why is Matthew being fed by this stranger?” Jerry understood that it might be his new boyfriend so he tried to play it off like a joke so his sister wouldn’t suspect.
“Ooh that might be his best friend from school I guess they are just playing, I don’t think there is anything wrong with that.” He stared at his sister to see maybe his lie was a success.
“I guess so,” She replied. Jerry couldn’t take it anymore he decided to leave his sister to say hello to Matthew.
“Hi, Matthew. How is it going?” Matthew looked at Jerry as he greeted him, there was a distant look in his eyes. He mummed “Jerry what are you doing here?”
Without an invitation Jerry sat down beside them, he drew the take closer to Matthew “Have missed you, Matthew. I know we had our differences but we were once friends and I believe we could leave all that behind and stay friends.”
Matthew was surprised to hear this, he did not understand what he meant by asking them to be friends again after two years of separation.
