Carly’s return to school was mildly chaotic
and the enthusiasm with which she was greeted caught the young girl
off guard. Mr. Drury’s words still stinging in her ears, Carly
acted as if nothing special had happened. To her surprise she was
swamped by her friends and the teachers, even the principal came by
her classroom to shake her hand. Newspaper accounts of the search
and rescue were posted on bulletin boards throughout the school and
