While Dakota snuggled up to his Mate, Metztli was not afforded the same luxury that night. Sam had cleaned up for bed and rushed herself under the covers without more than two words to Metztli. He didn’t think too much about it and chalked it up to devotion to her work. She must be in a hurry so she’s not tired tomorrow, he thought, but when he finally joined her in bed and felt her stiffen as he snaked his arm around her, he knew something was up. “What’s wrong,” he asked, his tone cautious. “Nothing,” Her voice was hard and curt, totally underscoring that there was definitely something wrong. “Somehow I don’t think you’re telling me the truth.” His mouth quirked upwards as she laid onto her back and scowled at him. “Truth? Really? Somehow I don’t think you’re telling me the truth.”
