Eleven: The Dark runesA loud noise erupted outside Hakon's chamber and he was startled awake. It was curious to the boy that something should be awake at such an hour. “Ratatoskr.” He whispered quietly. “Ratatoskr.” The red squirrel emerged from beneath the bed still half-asleep. “What is it Hakon?” “Did you hear that? That noise? It came just outside the door.” Ratatoskr stood straight now and moved his ears in several directions. “I hear nothing Hakon. You must have been dreaming.” “No,” Hakon protested. “I swear I heard something just outside the door.” “Hakon, the door is locked, nothing is getting inside.
