ELLIOT I ran through the town, rain pelting my fur and thunder rolling through the sky. I was terrified, more than I’d ever been in my life. My mate’s life was in danger, and I was so afraid of losing her I couldn’t even think straight. Bella was my only mate. I’d never get another if she died. She was my only hope of happiness. Even if that hope was a tiny flame flickering in the dark, especially after what I’d done so far to ruin her trust. As I ran past the edges of the town, the storm cleared as though it had never been.
