Chapter Two

941 Words
I was on my knees in an almost totally dark room. Only the flickering dull lamp in the corner provided just a little light. Enough for me to make out the outline of a figure sorting through all kinds of weapons in the other corner. Yup. That was my brother. My knees hurt like hell but I didn’t dare abandon my position. “Enzo, can you—“ “Shh…” he shut me up, pressing the barrel of a short gun to his lips. “I don’t want to hear you speak right now.” My fingers trembled but I remained kneeling, my mind trying to find a way to escape this. Tears usually worked. It was the weakness of every man but I had a feeling it wouldn’t work this time. Still… I pinched my butt cheek hard, until the pain made me gasp and tears slowly filled my eyes. I sniffed, my shoulders trembling as I sobbed. My brother groaned and I heard something being thrown into the wall as he slowly came out of the dark. The moment I saw his face, I knew I had made a mistake. He was fuming. “I’m not falling for those fake tears, Mia. Now wipe the fake snort and explain to me why you were found in an underground ring.” “I already told you.” I said, rolling my eyes as I wiped the tears away. “I wanted to have fun.” “In an underground ring? What happened to going to a club with your friends? Do you know what could’ve happened to you in a place like that?” “I’m fine now, aren’t I?” Enzo gave me a harsh glare and I gulped hard. “I don’t believe you went there alone. No one would’ve allowed you entry.” He sat and gently caressed my cheek, “Give me the name of the bastard and I’ll let you go.” Now genuine fear made me tremble. If he found out I seduced the guards into letting me in, I was afraid they were not going to live long enough to see the next day. I gulped hard. “I went alone.” “What did I say about lying to me?” I knew I had to think carefully about what I said next. People could die. If I gave him a name, he would let me go and whoever it was would face the consequences. He already dealt with the low lives that felt they could touch me. All three of them. I saw their bodies being carried out as I entered. What’s one more additional name? “Aaron.” I heard myself say before I could stop the name from escaping my lips. Enzo’s eyes darkened. “Who did you just say?” “What? You don’t believe me too?” I asked, “I begged Aaron to take me there. And you know me, I pestered him until he agreed.” “You—“ “You can’t blame me. I’ve asked you to take me a lot of times and you didn’t.” My lips curled mischievously as I thought about how Aaron would deny this and what trouble this might bring for him. At least my brother won’t be able to kill him. My brother looked at me like he was trying to see through me. “Aaron really took you?” “I’m not lying. You can ask Blake and the others. They saw us together.” “Blake!” Enzo barked and Blake came running inside the room a second later. “Yes boss.” “She said Aaron was there when you picked her up.” Blake looked at me then back at Enzo before he said, “Y-yes. He was.” “Describe the scene exactly as you saw it.” Enzo barked and Blake legit started to sweat. “H-he… he was standing with Mia, shirtless.” At his words, Enzo looked at me and I lowered my head. f**k. This was going to be worse than I thought. “Why was he shirtless?” “I- i think he had given his shirt to her.” Blake said, pointing at me. “I think Aaron saved her—“ He continued to say but too late. Enzo had already disappeared from the room, fuming mad. I blew out a breath as I quickly got off my knees, sitting on the couch while Blake looked panicked. “What is he going to do now?” I shrugged. “He can’t possibly kill his friend. I’m sure Aaron can handle it.” Blake glanced at me. “You’re always causing trouble. Why did you tell him Aaron took you there when we both know he didn’t? He saved you.” “I know. But I can’t have Enzo killing anyone because of me.” Blake scoffed. “If you just stop causing trouble for a minute, perhaps no one will die.” I glared at him. “Now that I think about it, I should’ve given him your name instead.” Blake’s eyes went wide and he dropped to his knees. “Your highness, I’m sorry if I upset you just now. Do you want anything? This servant is at your beck and call.” The switch up was crazy and it made my lips curl smugly as I relaxed on the couch. “Food. I’m freaking hungry.” “I’ll go get you food.” Blake said and quickly disappeared from the room like he was being chased by a terrifying monster.
