Chapter 1 She is Your Husband’s Surrogate
Late at night, in a hotel's presidential suite.
On the luxurious double bed, two half-naked bodies were lingering together, ambiguous gasps reaching their ears.
The man had a handsome face and a perfect body not second to the world's top male models, which absolutely would catch women's eyes.
At that moment, he was caught up in lust, his upper body clad only in a white silk shirt, his muscular arms braced on either side of the woman's body beneath him, his narrow eyes glowing with crimson fire. After a brief pause, he leaned down and pressed his lips on the woman's lips.
Because of her breathlessness, Lydia Gill instinctively dodged to the sides, hoping to avoid his kisses.
However, the man's lips moved down to her neck, kissing passionately with a tendency to go further down.
He felt like his body was about to reach c****x with the desperate need to get his hands on her.
Lydia seemed to have drunk too much wine, and her head was dizzy. She tried to open her eyes but she felt she could not find her strength.
As if sensing the growing danger, she suddenly bit down hard on her lower lip, crimson blood staining it red.
"Go away... don't you touch me..."
Her voice was muffled without deterrence, but it was her repeated squirming beneath him that made him feel more and more uncontrollable.
The man grabbed her limp hands that were trying to push him away and pressed all his weight into her body, hearing her whimper like a cat in pain, the fire in his chest burning hotter and hotter.
Ruthlessly, he ripped the last piece of her clothes off.
"Ah..."
A slender figure suddenly bounced up and sat on the large bed.
Cold sweat covered her forehead and her heart was racing.
Again, she had this crazy dream.
In the dream, she was r***d by a man whose face could not be seen clearly, and the hard hit seemed to crash through her body.
That dream was so real that every time she recalled it, it always gave Lydia the illusion of cheating in marriage.
As she rambled on, the phone on the bedside table suddenly vibrated.
--someone called her.
Lydia came back to her senses and had a look at the note displayed on the screen. Her fingers paused before she slid the green button and answered, "Grandma..."
"Presbyterian Hospital? Okay, I'll be right there."
One hour later, she arrived at Presbyterian Hospital.
The elevator was overcrowded and Lydia stood in the far corner, her voice lowered, "Grandma, I'm in the hospital now, please wait a minute."
However, before she could finish her words, the phone had been hung up.
Soon, she came to the sixth floor.
As she exited the elevator, Lydia caught a glimpse of the words 'Obstetrics and Gynecology' written on the wall, and for some reason, she felt inexplicably uneasy.
Office of Chief Physician Smith.
Lydia stood in the hallway and knocked politely at the door.
After a few moments, someone came to open the door, and as soon as she saw the person, she immediately greeted, "Hello, Joan."
Joan was an elderly person who had been taking care of Amber Bates, Bentley Newman's grandmother, for over thirty years, therefore she was respected by the younger generation of the Newman family.
Although Joan was a subordinate, she got her high position in the Newman family.
Joan responded to her, "Please come in, Mrs. Newman."
"Thanks, Joan." Lydia nodded.
Just as she walked in, the curtain of the examination room was pulled open and a pretty young girl stood rather conspicuously in the middle of several medical staff.
It was weird that the young girl was looking at her with provocation.
"... Grandma."
Lydia temporarily suppressed the doubts in her heart and walked up to the old lady, asking softly, "What do you want to see me about?"
Amber looked indifferent, and then her gaze turned to the doctor.
The doctor understood her meaning and opened his mouth, "Miss Hawkins is healthy in every aspect, please rest assured, Madam." After a pause, the doctor added, "Miss Hawkins's maidenhead does not show signs of breaking, so she is still a virgin."
At these words, Amber's pale, stern expression turned to a smile. She reached out to hold the girl's hand and patted gently before turning her head towards Lydia and saying, "This is Sylvie Hawkins. She won the Newman's Scholarship every year at University of North Carolina by ranking first in her grade with the superb IQ. And I've also had Director Smith personally checked on her physical condition."
Speaking of this, the old lady's eyes revealed even more pressure, "Sylvie has already agreed to bear a child as a surrogate for you and give birth to an intelligent and healthy heir for Ben and the Newman family, what do you think?"
"Ben", the old lady mentioned, was her most proud and well-behaved grandson, Bentley Newman.
He was a decisive, cold and ruthless business magnate, the sole heir to the century-old Newman family.
He was also Lydia’s husband who maintained a hidden marriage with her for three years!
Lydia had always been filial and patient with her elders, but when the old lady suddenly made such an embarrassing request, her pretty face turned pale.
"Grandma!" The words to express anger reached her lips, but in the end, she swallowed them back silently.
Finally, biting her lip and full of stubbornness, she said, "Grandma, I do not agree."
The old lady slapped her hard in her face, causing her left face to swell, and her eyes welled up with tears.
"Lydia!" In a condescending tone, the old lady rebuked, "I'm not asking for your opinion. For the matter of giving birth to the heir of the Newman family, you are not qualified to have a say!"
Lydia held back the pain and spoke in a mocking tone, "Since you think I have no say, why did you call me over? Why did you ask my opinion?"
The old lady's face went sullen and she could not come up with a word to respond.
Sylvie Hawkins said fawningly, "Miss Gill, Madam is asking for your opinion, and only after if you agree, you can talk to Mr. Newman."
Lydia stared sharply at Sylvie and sneered, "You're the one who wants to be a surrogate mother, why should I convince my husband for you?"
Sylvie pursed her lips and said, as if innocent, "But you have been failing to conceive a baby, and Madam has run out of patience..."
Sylvie's words were like a sharp dagger, stabbing viciously into Lydia's heart and pulling out a bloody wound. Well, it was indeed Lydia’s sore spot.
And the old lady seemed unable to see her pain, just frowned and said in a harsh tone, "I have already decided on this issue, it doesn't matter whether you agree or not. As for Ben..."
"Since it has nothing to do with me, don't tell me about it, Grandma."
After living in the Newman's for so many years, it was the first time that Lydia gathered up her courage to interrupt the old lady’s words, "Grandma, since that is all you wanted to say, I will take my leave first."
With those words, she immediately turned away, without giving a glance at the old lady's horrified face.
The moment Lydia closed the door, Sylvie's voice rang out behind her, "Madam, I didn't expect Mr. Newman's wife would be such a rude girl and disrespect the elders..."
"Shut up!" The old lady scolded her in a stern voice with a cold face, "I don't want to hear those words from your mouth again."
As an outsider, Sylvie was not qualified to say a word against Lydia.
Though Lydia did not have a rich family to support her, Lydia was still her daughter-in-law now and was a member of the Newman family.
The old lady was a shabby genteel, and what Sylvie had said had undoubtedly offended her!
