Eleanor’s POV
I ignored the two demons that had accompanied Nicholas. One of them was the demon in Shay’s body, and I grit my teeth in anger at it still being in her. However, I had to focus on the job I needed to do. I opened the door and, unlike my first entry into the laboratory, where everything was bright and shiny and I’d run into the rune that tried to fry me up, I took Nicholas into a dark and empty room. There were a few blinking lights from the giant tube-like containers that the creatures were in, and I was thankful that it wasn’t enough to show the entire room. We had a few surprises hidden in the room that would definitely tell Nicholas that something was up. I sensed him tensing up in the darkness, but I continued walking, and he followed.
