Kodi looked up from the sink with the faucet running and cold water dripping off her chin. She looked - normal, no baggy eyes, no dark circles, but she'd never worn her heartbreaks on her sleeve anyway. Or on her face. Anger, annoyance, skeptical disdain, those had a way of coming out in her eyes and in the twist of her mouth, loud and clear. But the other things? Never. It wasn't that she had to bend over backwards to hide them either, not really - her more vulnerable emotions tended to stay put like well trained animals behind the face she put on, that was all. When the world spun out from beneath her, at least she always had herself under control. Day four, six in the morning. Monday.
