Back from the dead

1041 Words
Lily got home that evening and went to bed early; she was exhausted. After she had taken the bread and peanut butter and rested a while, she had gone back to painting Michael in the nude. She was embarrassed to admit to herself that she did find his body attractive but she wasn't turned on or anything. Micheal was still as furniture as she had painted him, his eyes piercingly fixed on her sometimes without blinking for long periods of time. She had managed to finish the head, torso and arms. The next time was going to be his lower limbs. She silently dreaded having to sketch his p***s and balls. Gina was right, rich people are weirdos. Lily thought to herself. She had a shower and got into bed. She must have been sleeping for a long time because she was startled awake when Gina came in, bearing various shopping bags. "See who's back", Gina said as she stepped through the door with several bags. "Welcome back. What is this? A shopping spree?", Lily teased. "Yes and guess who took me shopping?", Gina said as she twirled around in her short skirt. Lily could tell they were designers. How Gina got the money for designers but barely had rent money was always baffling to Lily. She didn't have to guess too long about who took her friend shopping. "Your boyfriend's dad?", Lily asked. "Well yes, he called me that he was less busy and wanted me to escort him to shop for a watch. And then from there, he said I could get whatever I wanted", Gina responded. Lily could feel the excitement from her friend. She was happy for her but then, wasn't it a bit weird for your boyfriend's dad to take you shopping. "Are you really okay with that though?", Lily asked "Okay with what?" Said Gina, looking confused. "I mean your boyfriend's dad taking you shopping. Is your man okay with that?" "I see nothing wrong with it especially as I don't plan on having anything to do with him. It's just a gesture of kindness he's showing me. If he's expecting something in return then that's on him, don't you think so?", Gina asked her friend. "Well, yeah I think. Now what did you get for me?", Lily asked as she stood to check the shopping bags. "Now we're talking", Gina said as she began to rummage through her shopping bags. *************** It was mid afternoon and Lily was lazily spending the afternoon reading a book with a cup of tea on her hand. She enjoyed these afternoons when she had no classes and there was little to nothing to do. Her phone started to ring just then and she checked the caller Id. There was none; it was basically an unknown number. Normally, she ignores these types of calls but for some reason, call it boredom or whatever, she decided to answer. "Hi, is this Lily Patel?", The masculine voice said. Lily didn't recognize the voice but decided to play along. "Yes, this is she. How may I help you?" "This is Alex, we met sometime ago in a restaurant" "A restaurant? What restaurant was that?", She asked "Fork and Flame", Alex replied Lily thought for sometime and recalled that she had actually been on a date with someone and it took place in that restaurant. She could still remember the restaurant. It had an upper class vibe to it and the food was so expensive. She could now remember Alex. She had met him when she and Gina had gone to try out new restaurants. Lily had told Gina she didn't have the money for that kind of place but Gina insisted that she would foot the bills. The were taking pictures in front of the restaurant after they were done eating and that was when Alex had approached them. He was a shy, nerdy guy. He was so respectful that even though Lily never wanted to mingle with any man, she just decided to reward him with her number. Alex had called three days later and asked her out officially on a date and since Lily had nothing better doing that weekend, she agreed. That was how she had ended up on a date with him. He picked her up and drove them both to the restaurant. He paid for the food and drinks and even asked her to take some back home. "Yes, I remember now, Alex", Lily said dragging her thoughts back to the present. "Oh I'm so glad you remembered", Alex said "I don't want to speak to you again. You ghosted me after that dinner we had. I didn't do anything wrong to you and you just ghosted out of thin air", Lily said as she recalled how Alex had ghosted her after dropping her off back home. "Please, give me a minute to explain", Alex said "There's nothing to explain unless you died and resurrected", Lily retorted angrily. "Well, I did die and resurrect", Alex said Lily thought she hadn't heard well. Was this guy a nutcase or what? "What the heck are you saying?" She asked "Well, technically speaking I did. I had a fatal accident the next day. Even my family didn't believe I would survive. I was in a coma for a while", Said Alex. "You've got to be kidding me", Lily was astounded. "I'll send you pictures just now", Alex said Lily's phone pinged and she saw the photos that Alex had sent her. It was him with various tunes coming in and out of him and he was in a hospital. Now, she felt bad about her attitude. "I'm so sorry, I didn't know this was what happened", Lily said wishing she could take back all the words she had said earlier on. "It's okay. It's not your fault either. Well I'm back from the dead now and I want to take you out on a date again", Alex said. Lily was quiet for a minute. Actually, she was intrigued. Maybe a date with Alex would clear up her head and the nonsense thoughts and visions she had been seeing about Michael. "Okay, so when is it going to be"? Lily said.
