Focusing on paperwork helped Christopher not dwell on what was going on with Gage, or who he was with, or what he might be experiencing. This was his first contact with anyone from Salt Lake since he’d left, after all. Almost anything could be happening. Christopher still jumped for the phone every time it rang, though.
