The Queen's Crown

Episode 4

It freaked them out as they left the throne room one after another. The man from before Invited me to have a word with me in his office; I came with the crown still on my head and sat on the wooden chair.

" Sarah, is there a way you're related to the old queen?". He wanted to know things about me; I breathed in and immediately called the name of my mother. She isn't the queen, and I have forever lived with her for as long as I remember...

" Ok, we just sent for your mother and the truth will be out". He placed one hand on his face and continued looking at the crown on my head.

An hour later, Mom and Anna came to the palace; they were both astonished to hear the news of me potentially being the next Queen of Baltimore.

The man sitting on his chair arose and introduced himself to my mother.

" Good evening, ma'am.... I am council David, and you must be Sarah's mother?". He extended a warm handshake. However, Mom had become so emotional that she unintentionally ignored him as she came to my corner.

" Baby, what are you doing here? And why are you putting on the crown on your head?".

She raised her hand to take off the crown, but the huge light that emanated from it stopped her from attempting such again.

" Mom, I am the new queen of Baltimore. Can't you see the crown? It chose me?".

For her safety, I made her stand away from me.

I wouldn't want the crown misbehaving and this being to spiral out of control.

Councilman, Adam Halton, invited us to stay in the palace, and staying there meant that we had to encounter the family of the previous queen and her family, she has a son, nevertheless, rumours have it that the crown didn't choose him, Instead has now chosen someone else that isn't royalty.

" No, we cannot stay here"

Mom politely declined Adams's proposal.

She wanted us to go back to our house; Anna, on the other hand, didn't want the same thing; she was rather concerned about staying in the palace. Luckily, Adam had his way of convincing Mom, and she agreed,, but it was on the condition that we all share the same room.

Adam didn't want that, especially not after finding out that I was chosen by the crown. He wanted me to stay in the queen's Room, but it was mandatory and peaceful that he confirm the decision of my mother.

He asked the maids to prepare one of the rooms for us; the time was already far spent talking to him. We were still waiting to be called upon by the maid when an announcement came that the royal prince had arrived at the throne room. ..

Mom advised me not to speak to him. However, Adam advised against doing such; according to him, it would be too disrespectful not to give the prince a listening ear; he's royalty, and this night disqualifies me from becoming the next Queen of Baltimore.

Hearing that, she had to refrain from giving more advice, Adam went, and he opened the door for Prince Liam. He was as handsome as the ladies in the town described him to be, tall, and he was also handsome with a very enticing body build.

" Hello, you must be Sarah ...... Right?".

He came forward and asked about my name.

" Yeah, and you're Prince Liam in the flesh".

I lowered my head as a sign of respect and raised it up later on to see the formal grin on his face. He liked that; even though he didn't say it, it was clearly written on his face.

"And I hear that you have been chosen by the crown? ". He saw the crown on my head, and a smile emerged on his face, as he continued, "Congratulations! You have brought wealth to your family". He smiled brightly.

I genuinely accepted his congratulations, and while we had our conversation, Anna and Mom were occupied going through the royal outfits that had just arrived.

" Congratulations, once again, Sarah".

Liam slightly lowered his head, turned his face to the door and left the room smiling at us.

" That wasn't as bad as I expected".

Shocked, Adam closed the door and started talking. We had enough time to discuss the entire royal family, and most especially the queen's sister, Agnes. She's a pain in the family, and according to Adam, many of the council members see her as a backstabbing woman with long hair and curves as deadly as a sharp weapon.

He leaves immediately after the discussion, and Mom, along with Anna, picks out a few of the outfits, forcing me to wear them...

" This will look good on you"

Anna placed one of the outfits on my lap before Mom stepped forward, and she placed her own choice, too...

" This will also look good on you, Queen Sarah of Baltimore". She grinned at the end of her statement. I had to smile back after hearing her addressing me as the queen; never in my life would I have imagined I'd be seen and chosen as the queen of Baltimore.

I had to change into one of the night outfits and bedhead. Mom and Anna were still glaring at the outfits while I fell asleep...

The following morning, I never had anyone waking me up from my slumber, but a maid from the palace woke me, Mom and Anna.

She didn't quite come for them; I was the main reason why she had to come upstairs and wake me up from my sweet morning sleep.

" My queen, Mr Adam, has asked me to get you and your family ready for the morning breakfast" She opened the wardrobe and brought out some clothes.

Mom and Anna woke up from their beds, and it took them five minutes to realise what was happening. I let her dress me and after she was finished, I was taken downstairs for my first breakfast with the formal royal family...
