Episode 5

Oh my gosh! The queen is here"

Agnes said in a mocking voice. She did that just to trigger me, and just as Adam has told me, I should be extremely careful with her and also her daughter, agenda.

" Good morning, everyone".

I remembered the teachings of Adam and immediately implemented them by publicly greeting the entire royal family.

It'll be uncalled for if I begin to call them by their names, it'll be weird and I might also fail to remember them because I only just arrived last night after the unbelievable incident.

The maids served us our breakfasts on golden plates. Shortly, Mom and I were announced by the man standing at the door, and they both walked in adorned in beautiful royal attires; I almost did not recognise my mom putting on expensive outfits.

After breakfast, Adam and I went for a public interview with a news reporter; he had come for exclusive news about my sudden new office as the queen of Baltimore; how did it happen? Everyone in the city wants to know, and as much as I would've loved to tell them the story about the voice in my head, I'd rather be tagged as a crazy queen, and my subjects would fail to respect me...

" So, Queen Sarah, how does it feel to be Queen?". The interview started, and I had to publicly keep myself from overacting by the camera.

" Oh! Like a dream come true".

I said with a pitiful tone, smiling and gracefully looking at the recording cameras without freaking out.

I had answers to every question. Adam was starting to congratulate me for a job, Weldon, but before that took place, out of nowhere, Agnes and her daughter interfered with my interview.

They had a lot to tell to the nice reporter man who came for an exclusive interview with me only, and not the entire family.

" Hey, Chris, can I ask you a question?".

Agnes grabbed one of the chairs and sat next to me. I didn't know if I should stand up and leave, however, Adam signalled me not to do anything of a sort and calmly control the situation.

" Do you think that the crown might've wrongly chosen Sarah? Maybe it's a glitch, and she's now chosen as the new queen of the Kingdom".

She started her interrogation.

As the news reporter jotted down everything she was saying, I closed my eyes and sought help from the voice in my head.

"Voice, I need your assistance".

I whispered only to my hearing.

But there wasn't any response.

I became disappointed and desperate to find an immediate solution to the dilemma I was forced to encounter.

Just then, I heard the voice say to me.

" Ask her about Balfour, what happened during the night of the ball?".

Without hesitating, I quickly straightened my back, turned to Agnes and asked her the same question. Immediately, there was a change In her countenance; she became uneasy and itching the moment I asked her questions about Balfour and the incident behind it.

" Balfour, what happened there, ma'am?".

The curious news reporter asked her.

Unfortunately, her daughter, Edwina, saved her mother by asking a totally different question.

I do not know if she intentionally changed the question, but that changed the entire state of the whole thing.

The meeting came to an end; Adam walked him to the front door of the palace; I turned and was going back to my bedroom when Agnes came, and she had some questions to throw at me.

" Sarah, how did you know about Balfour?".

She wanted to hold my hand, however, she stopped after glaring at the crown on my head.

A force within had to ask her to stop and not take another step forward.

" Yes! Are you spying on us, or did you ask questions?". Her daughter asked her own share of questions. I looked at them and smiled; they were rather intrigued to know how I knew about Balfour and were even willing to fight me for it.

Luckily, Adam came back from sending the news reporter away, and he admitted to having told me about Balfour and the incident that happened.

Agnes reprimanded him, and so did her daughter; I was perplexed and immediately annoyed that he lied just to save me.

" Why did you lie?".

I asked him after Agnes and her daughter left us alone.

" Lie?" He grinned and afterwards continued, "It was the only way I could save you from Agnes and her daughter; they wouldn't stop from knowing the truth". He explained.

" Really? But exactly what happened in Balfour?".

Intrigued to know more, I began to ask questions. In the beginning, he wasn't willing to tell me the truth. Nevertheless, he gathered enough courage and told me everything that happened over there.

It was the night the past queen was chosen, the late Queen Victoria was about to be crowned queen when Agnes almost murdered her, she had poisoned Queen Victoria, but the antidote was later discovered by the position marker, Agnes was sent to the dungeon and forced to stay there for six months until the entire coronation of queen victoria rounded off...

Maybe that's why she and her daughter became upset by the news of their behaviour in Balfour. It is the hometown of the queen, but she had come up to pay a visit to her grandmother here in Baltimore when the crown chose her.

" Sarah, What is wrong?".

After having my final meeting with the council of elders, Adam and his cohort, I stayed in the room and quietly reminisced about my life ...

From selling in the fruits to being the queen of Baltimore, all of a sudden, everything happens like a film; I have yet to understand everything and then give an answer to it.

" Nothing happened, I am just exhausted"

I explained as plainly as possible.

That however, didn't stop her, she suggested that we go through NH royal outfits in my walk Wardrobe and take a liking to one or two of the outfits and shoes, I don't fancy talking about the same thing but I do not a fan of shoes, clothes and other lady attire with a huge head wig on her head, as the new queen, I have to be dressed in that and maybe more.
