Elysia. The following morning I woke up feeling a bit different than I had ever felt. The mind link stayed closed to me because opening it would let Kael feel everything. The constant replay of Kieran's hands shoving me, his cruel smile as he admitted using me, the way he'd made me complicit in destroying the man I loved. Blocking Kael out was the only way I could breathe. But it also meant drowning alone. I moved through the estate like a ghost, hyperaware of every sound. The footsteps behind me made me flinch.
