My cheeks flushed under his warm gaze. He might be happier than I am. “Thanks dad.” He went on to take a seat before me. “I just can’t believe you will be leaving the house tomorrow. I mean, I am happy; it’s just a few blocks away, but it still seems so far.” His voice cracked, and he lowered his gaze. My heart skipped the moment I saw him wiping his eyes with a napkin; I threw my hands around his shoulder, not minding the makeup that might smudge on his white attire. “I love you so much Dad, I promise it won’t make much difference; I will always check up on you.” Blinking away the tears, my arms tightened. I had tried to be so strong all this time. After I was born, my father was banished from the pack when the previous king found out he had impregnated and fallen in love with a human lady, so he was given a condition that he would only come back if he rejected my mother and wiped her memory of him, but he refused. “I wish your mom was here.” He finally said, pulling me away from his body. “You have grown so well; she would be bawling now if she saw you like this.” He said, faking a smile. “Yeah, Mom would cry for anything. I remember getting my period for the first time, and she crashed out for three weeks and got sick because she couldn’t believe I was becoming the ripe age of puberty.” Dad and I had a good laugh reliving the memory of having my mother around, she was the best thing that happened to both of us. And we would never forget it. “I am just happy you are marrying a nice man, Ely. I mean, the Alpha is the nicest man in the pack, and he is the only one who deserves you.” I couldn’t agree less. He never questioned my origin or thought of me less as a wolf because I had human blood, and somewhere along these two years of him being around us. I couldn’t tell when and how I fell in love with him, but I knew what I felt for him was deep; it was LOVE, and he felt the same. “I will leave you now. It’s your bridal shower. Back when I was with my mom, I would sneak out and party.
