I found Kieran in the same clearing as before, waiting in the early morning mist like he'd known I'd come.
"We need to talk." I didn't bother with pleasantries. "When are you going to do it?"
He turned slowly, one eyebrow raised. "Do what, exactly?"
"Confront Kael. Use the evidence to force him to step down, to break the bond." Impatience sharpened my voice. "That was the plan, Kieran. So when?"
"Ah." He smiled, but it didn't reach his eyes. "You're eager to see your Alpha brought low."
"I'm eager to see him safe." I stepped closer, frustration building. "You promised this would be handled cleanly. That he'd be allowed to resign and leave with his life intact. So when does that happen?"
Kieran studied me for a long moment, then did something I'd never heard before.
