“No! No! No!” I broke down in tears, my knees crumbling to the floor, “This can't be happening at all.” I rolled on the floor uncontrollably.
"Please." The word tore from my throat like a desperate prayer. "Please, Kael, you have to save him. You have to bring my father back."
I couldn't breathe, I couldn't think. The news the guard brought to me kept playing in my head making me act like a mad lady.
