"You really need to dress up for work, alright?" I sighed as Nicole's hand brushed against my face, and I flinched, still feeling the heat from her touch. Thankfully, she didn’t catch on. “There,” she said, pressing her palm against the knot a few times. “It looks great on you.”
“Thanks,” I replied, giving her a sincere smile. “I’ll wear this necktie tomorrow.”
She nodded and then sat down at the table. “Let’s eat before the food I cooked gets cold.”
I took off the tie and put it back in the box. Nicole and I started with dinner—a delicious creamy spinach pasta she had whipped up as a surprise for me. Honestly, everything she cooked was amazing, and it reminded me of my mom.
