"Nicole?" I jumped when a piercing scream filled my office as Nicole burst in, pulling my attention away from the documents I was signing.
"No! No, stop!" she cried out, and I rose from my seat, approaching her, and quickly wrapping my arms around her in a tight embrace. She squirmed and fought against me, her face twisted in sheer terror and despair.
"Nicole! Hey, look at me!" I exclaimed, gripping her shoulders to prevent her from hurting herself. "It’s okay. You’re safe now. Ssshhh… it’s alright, baby."
