Dinner was delivered around seven, everyone had been called in to the doctor's office one by one until he was done interrogating us all. I ate dinner quietly on the couch and watched some show one of the guys put on. When I was done, I threw my garbage out and headed to my room. I wonder what these little nodes were actually for and how they can even monitor anything. I changed into a Tee, slid into bed and started to read a book I grabbed off the shelf in the common area. Jane Eyre. I remember reading it when I was in high school. It was a classic that I could get into again.
The desert was vast, large sand dunes surrounded me, the sun was beating down making me sweat, my hair was damp from the heat, the air was dry and my throat was parched. A pale rider came charging in, his face was gone, his body ill looking and weak, but my senses told me he was anything but, his bones were visible through the pale robe he was wearing.
He shouted from a distance "Ooh little angel, I heard you were here for me. You won't win this time. If I find you first, I will kill you. My brother may not be strong enough to take you out, but I am not in love with you. Your death will be one for the ages. Where are you? If you tell me, I will make it quick and painless." It was strange. I could hear his voice but he had no face, there was no mouth. It was like his voice was projecting out of the form in front of me. "What are you talking about? Nothing you could give me would be painless." I yelled, "Aww, so you do remember a little. But do you remember your purpose? That's good, let me find you first then." His voice was sickly sweet and would haunt me forever. I shook my head. "You wont find me."
He rode around me, his pale horse bucking up on his hind legs, sand flying everywhere. The ground began to shift and rumble, the sand was moving in all directions, the sun disappeared into the dunes, day turning into night. The faceless man turned even more pale as the moon rose above the sand if that was even possible. He was like a sick and decaying human, the smell was nauseating and familiar.
He glowed in the moonlight, it seemed almost unreal, but this was a dream. There seemed to be a strange glow around his body.
He jumped off his horse when landing, the ground shook, his body began to shift; he seemed to hover above the ground he had just made tremble by merely putting a foot down. He was wearing a robe, a hood draped over his head, eyes appeared and started to glow red through the hood he was wearing. The face that was not there in the beginning was starting to take form, but the dark made it impossible to see a single feature other than the creepy red eyes.
He charged, I ran, the scene slowly began to change around me. Moss covered the ground, thick bushes and trees all around me.
The faceless man on my heels. I jumped, higher than I expected. I was in a tree looking down at the faceless man who was now directly under me. My body was saying hide, my instinct told me to pounce. Before I even realized what I was doing, I was soaring through the sky, falling from above onto the faceless man. As soon as we collided, another dream surfaced. I was holding the faceless man while plunging a katana into his gut, ripping it up, making the creature before me explode into ash and flame. A sense of pride flushed over me knowing I had fulfilled my task.
As my body landed on the figure below, he whirled around and caught me. Our eyes met, he flinched for just a second, but it was enough for me to twist my body just enough to wrap my legs around his ghostly figure and rip his hood down, revealing the evil beneath. He was quite good-looking blonde hair, blue eyes, a strong jaw and, by the feel of it he wasn't as weak as he looked. Under the robe he felt quite buff. His eyes were weary and tired, there was something telling me he was so done with this game, all i wanted to do was hold him and tell him we were both done. Suddenly, all I could feel was raw hatred, it was a burning desire to rip me apart.
An evil smile crossed his lips, lips that I could now see. "I don't care if you know what I look like, I will kill you this time!" I pulled myself up to his ear, smiled and whispered "Try it!"The game was on, I jumped off him, shocked at my own words. Why would I even say that? "Why would you want to kill me? I don't even know you." before he had a chance to answer, I was sitting up in my bed sweating.
I turned my head towards the door and sitting in a chair creepily watching me was Dr Hades "doctor?" "Hi Rose, sorry I was watching your nodes on the computer when they started going wild. So, I thought I'd come check on you. Are you ok? Do you need some water?" I looked at him suspiciously "uhm no I'm ok." Was this what Mark was talking about? This was pretty disturbing. Who creepily watches someone when they are sleeping? Ok, calm down, he's a sleep doctor, maybe that's what they do. "Alright, I'll get going then. Hey, so was that one of your nightmares?" I nodded "Yes." he put his finger on his chin "hmm ok then." "Why do you ask?" "Well, it didn't register as a dream; your brain took it as something else. But we'll talk about it in the morning."I nodded.
I laid back down and tossed and turned the rest of the night.
