Love After Dark

With all of the unsolved murders happening around town lately, the last thing I should be doing is walking home alone, but here I am.  It was still somewhat light out but it wouldn't be for long.  As I was walking past an alley I felt strong arms grab my waist and pull me into the darkness.  He then grabbed a hold of my neck so tightly I could barely breathe.  I didn't know what he wanted, but I started thinking about it and thought 'oh s**t!', I started punching and kicking whatever part of him that I could.  After a few seconds of this, he slammed me up against the brick wall of a building and started feeling his way down my body, as I was struggling to get away from him I started screaming.  I felt something rush past us and then the man was gone, I heard him begging and screaming from around the corner and against my better judgement, I wanted to see what was happening.  To my surprise I saw that my friend was my savior ... he didn't look like he usually did though, he had blood all around his mouth and his eyes were completely black. *************************************************************************************************************** 6 months earlier...  My name is Lennox, i'm 17 and high school couldn't get any better.  My best friend Stacey & I go way back, to first grade.  I remember walking into class and her black hair was so long it was touching the ground, which of course I complemented and eventually sat down beside her, ever since then we've been inseparable.  Now 11 years later, we're walking down the hall late for class like always. "Girls, what have I told you about being late for your classes?!" "Sorry principal West, won't happen again" I did my best to sounding apologetic.  "I don't know why she bothers, we're literally late everyday" Stacey chuckled. "I know" When we walked into our class nobody looked up and our teacher kept talking as if we didn't even walk in. Once I sat down, my eyes found Rowan, the boy I've liked since I could remember.  He has dirty blonde hair and dark brown eyes that could consume you if you let them.  When he realized I was staring at him, he gave me a small wave and a cocky grin.  I was actually focusing on schoolwork for once when I got a little nudge from the person next to me.  "Here, this is for you" he handed me a little folded up note with my name on it.  I opened it and it was from Rowan, which read 'looking very beautiful today Lennox'.  I could feel myself blushing and I looked up to see him smiling at me.  I didn't think I was all that pretty, I have shoulder length caramel colored hair and blue eyes with a bit of grey in them, I also weigh more than I'd like, but the guys don't seem to mind and Stacey has even heard some say that I'm eye-candy.  After class I caught up to Rowan and said thank you for the note.  "You're welcome" he said, with a smile and then continued. "I was wondering if you'd like to go see a movie sometime?" "Absolutely, I'd love that" Trying not to sound too excited.  "Great, I'll text you later, gotta head to my next class now" I couldn't wait to tell Stacey about this, she's been telling me to grow some and tell him that I've liked him for years but I never ended up telling him.  I was about to walk into my next class when a new student caught my eye down the hall, he definitely didn't seem like the type to need help.  He looked strong and dangerous in my opinion but he also looked lost, he was holding the school map up and turning in circles.  "Hey, do you need some help finding your classes?" I stayed back a bit, not sure how he'd react.  He looked at me with the most intense stare I've ever seen, and I was wondering how long had past before I saw his lips part.  "Hi, yes I need to find this room" Pointing at his sheet for me to look at.  "Oh, that's just over this way, I have class in that room right now actually" I was smiling and gesturing him to follow me.  When we got into class, he sat down beside me and Stacey was looking at me like 'who the heck is that?!?!' I just smiled and took my phone out and texted her 'saw him in the hall looking lost, he's new' I watched for her reaction, she looked at me and then at him with hunger in her eyes like I thought she would.  Just then I realized that I still haven't told her that Rowan asked me out.  I took my phone out again and texted her 'Rowan asked me out earlier!! we're supposed to go to the movies sometime' and again I waited to see her reaction.  After she read it, she looked at me with a huge smile on her face and I giggled excitedly.
