Chapter 2: I will do it!

Athena's POV.
After I got dragged away by the unknown men, and they locked me up in a room, like they were waiting for someone to pass an order, but being in that space for a while I tried every means to escape from the room, but there were no any escape route, and I tried pretending sick, none of them believed, so after some time I ran of energy, and I decided save my strength for something else.
I waited for a while, then I noticed that there was noise outside, and I decided to pay attention to it, and it turned out that they were greeting someone, but then I remembered my materials, and got angry. I started thinking maybe the whole thing was a trap to steal my work.
After some time, I heard the squealing sound and I looked the other way, the door was opening. I stood up and waited for them to come in, so that I could see the face of the person that illegally got me arrested.
The person came in, and it was a man. The man looked like he was in his late sixty, he had gray hair, but he dressed expensively, he was wearing a navy blue three piece suit, with a wine knot tie, and his shoes were also expensive, everything looked so expensive.
'Is he Mr Kai?' I asked inwardly.
He walked towards my direction with a serious look which made me feel like he was here for a business.
He sat on the couch opposite mine, and crossed his legs.
“Sit down,” he said coldly, then I sat down giving him a questioning look.
“What am I doing here? And who are you people?” I asked hurriedly, and he cleared his throat.
“You have a gut for someone who has a lot of debt,” he said and I got confused, ‘how did he know I have debt' I thought.
“What are you saying? How do you know that? Are you spying on me? Who has been giving you information?” I asked nervously, but he just smirked.
“Of course I will know that much when I'm the one you are owning,” he said, and I got confused at first, but I later realized that I did not recognize our creditor.
I swallowed nervously, and calmed myself down. “You are Mr Kai? The creditor?” I asked.
“Exactly!” He exclaimed, and I know that nothing good will come out of the conversation.
“I'm sorry for being rude, and also for the late payment, but I promise to pay back the money soon, just give me little time,” I said, and the man smirked like he had something else on his mind.
“Little time? You need little time to find two million dollars?” He asked, and hearing the money only made me feel angry, because I only found myself blaming father for it. I always thought of the things I did with the money, but I couldn't figure it out, and I was paying the debt that I don't even know about .
“Yes sir, I promise,” I said, trying to regain my shattered hope.
“How?” He asked, and I was dumbfounded, I couldn't say anything, and I bowed my head in disappointment.
“I have an offer for you,” Mr Kai said, and upon hearing that I raised my head immediately.
“What is it, sir?” I asked, hoping I could pay off the debt easily.
“Marry my son,” he said bluntly, and I got confused with his words.
“I don't understand sir,” I said, trying to confirm what he said.
“If you marry my son for three years, I will write off your debt, and I will also pay your mother medical bills,” he said with a serious look, then I knew that he wasn't joking, ‘if he is the infamous Mr Kai, then his son must be Devon Kai' I said inwardly, I knew about the rumor going on about Devon, it sounds like a good offer, but it can't be an option.
“What! I can't do that sir,” I said, and looked away, ‘why should I marry his son?’ I asked inwardly.
“You are sure you don't want to do it?” He asked.
“Yes, just give me a few more days, and I will pay you back,” I said, and he smirked.
“Okay, I will give you another three days to pay the money, and if you could not pay after three days you know what that means,” he said, and I sighed heavily.
I nodded at him after thinking. “Then, I will wait till then, but if you have a change of mind , take this,” he said, and placed a business card on the table.
“Okay sir,” I said, and he nodded at me. Then, I started wondering how to leave the building.
“Can I go now,” I asked.
“Of course,” he said. “One of the boys will send you back,” he said. I wanted to reject it, but I didn't know the area, so I accepted the offer.
“Thank you sir,” I said, and he left the room.
I took the card from the table, I felt like I would need it, then I ran after him, and walked behind him till we got to the parking lot. I was directed to an expensive car and I got in, but then I remembered my materials.
“Please could you perhaps see my things,” I asked the driver.
“It's inside the trunk,” he said flatly, and I felt relieved, ‘at least they are considerate' I thought, and the car zoomed out.
Two days later,
I got home after a stressful day, and I still haven't made enough money to clear the debt.
“Grrrrrr” my phone rang and I picked it immediately, it was from the hospital, “hello,” I said, and the next I heard from the other end made me dashed out of my apartment, I went straight to the hospital and saw my mother's condition, then I went to the doctor office after.
After the conversation I had with the doctor, I had no hope left, but then something fell from my cross bag, I bent down to pick it up and it turned out to be the business card from that day.
I dialed the number written on it and someone picked it up after the third rang.
“Hello, this is Athena,” I said, and the person from the other end went silent. It seemed like the person was waiting for me to say something else.
“I will do it.” I said desperately.
