Chapter 3: Accepting the offer.

Athena's POV.
“I will do it,” I said desperately, and I waited for the person on the other end to speak.
“Same location,” he said, and ended the call. It took me two minutes to understand what he said, but when I decoded the words, I dashed out of the hospital, and stopped a taxi.
I got to the exact building the other day, even when it was late and dark I still found my way there. I walked towards the building, but someone stopped me.
“Who are you?” A muscular man asked, the man was very tall, so I suspected him to be a bodyguard.
“I have an appointment with Mr Kai, and My Athena,” I said hurriedly.
“You can pass,” he said after hearing my name, then I rushed inside.
I got to exact room from other day, and I saw Mr Kai with his back facing me, “I will take the offer,” I said with a straight face, who cares if I was selling three years of life, for a debt, or to settle bills, I don't mind who he was anymore, I was desperate that I could even go for a demon.
The old man turned around after I mentioned those words, he smiled at me, and sat down with his legs crossed, he looked so calm like he was expecting it.
I sat down across from him, and looked at him.
“You won't go back on your words, right?” I asked, looking scared, and he smiled.
“I won't go back on my word,” he said, and I felt relieved.
I heard the door crack open, and a man in black suit came in with a file. I wondered what was in there when he gave it to Mr Kai, and left the room.
“You will sign a contract,” Mr Kai said with the file in his hand, and I guessed that was the contract.
He passed the file to me, and I wanted to open it.
“There's no going back after opening it or after signing it,” he said, and that made me wonder what was written on the paper.
I nodded at him. Then I opened the contract trying to read the clauses, but there was nothing special written inside the contract.
After reading the clauses, I wanted to sign the contract, but his words stopped me.
“Are you sure?” He asked.
“Very sure,” I said, and penned my signature on it.
After signing it, I passed the file to him back, “I will have this notarized,” he said, and called in the man from earlier, he gave it to him and he left the room immediately.
“Now you are my daughter in-law,” he said with a smile, while I just looked at him, I can't even imagine my life with Devon Kai from three years.
‘The scandal might be fake, who knows' I thought, trying to convince myself even when I knew that I was just lying to myself, even when I know that Devon Kai is a model with a scandal, I wanted to stay positive.
“What about the……money,” I said.
“Give your account details to the man at the door and he will send it to you,” he said.
“Do you even know the amount?” I asked, and he smiled.
“Do I have to know?” He asked, and I swallowed hard. “The amount is much, that's why,” I said, forgetting how rich the Kai's can be.
“How much is it?” He asked.
“One million dollars,” I said nervously, and he smiled at me.
“That's all?” He asked, and I nodded at him, ‘is he expecting more?’ I asked inwardly.
“That's not a huge amount of money for me, send your account details to John and he will wire you the money, and if you want cash,” he said, and I swallowed nervously.
'Cash! One million dollars cash?’ I thought, and he was that rich.
I nodded at him, and left the room. I went to the man, and the money was sent to me before leaving the building. I was happy, and went straight to the hospital to clear the bills, and pay for my mother's surgery.
They carried my mom into the OR[operating room] after I paid her bills, and I waited at the hospital for hours, and the surgery lasted for ten hours.
I couldn't even sleep throughout the night, and it was past eleven in the morning. It was almost afternoon when the doctor came out, I rushed towards him immediately I saw him coming out.
“How was it?” I asked doctor Blair, and he smiled at me.
“It was successful,” he said, and I was so happy that I almost yelled.
“Thank you doctor,” I said, and he nodded at me.
“You can't see her now, but you can look at her from afar,” he said. “I understand,” I replied.
After going to the doctor for some clarification, I went back to my mom's ward, and looked at her from afar. I was happy, but I was also sad, “mom, I'm getting married soon,” I mumbled, then left the ward.
I left the hospital after taking care of things, and went home to have a bath and change clothes. I got to my apartment and prepared to go to the bathroom. I wanted to take a nap by sitting on the bed, before going to the bathroom, but all I could remember was sitting on the bed, then I nod off.
