"What a coincidence, huh?" I really can't believe that Rhaya and Sammy are his sisters. I actually forgot about them because of my father's case. But I was sure I left them in our house. I hope father will let them stay.
"You can say that," Gio said while preparing the things we need to wash our clothes. I have already taken a shower and I am wearing the same clothes I wore when I came here.
"I never knew they were your sisters. I'm sorry" I said putting all my clothes in the basket. I haven't seen all of them, I just throw them inside the basket so I could wash them already. My clothes are starting to feel itchy because of the wrong way of washing them.
"What are you sorry for?" Gio looked at me and asked. I somehow felt guilty that I did not come out in those days, if only I did, their father would not think of stealing food. Gio shouldn't have sent it here.
"If only I went out to give them food, your father wouldn't have stole. You wouldn't be in here"
"It's not your fault. I never blamed you, but may I ask what happened that day. I am just curious" Gio looked at me with sad eyes. I know he said it's fine, but I also know that he thinks about what could have happened if I gave his sisters, food that day.
"What day?" I wanted to clarify if we are thinking the same. If he is asking about the days I did not give his sisters some food.
"When they couldn't find you. Where were you in those three days?" I knew it.
"I was just in our house. I got really sick. No one took care of me, that's why I was sick for three days. After that, I saw your sisters outside our house. They said they didn't have any home to stay on, so I let them in" We had maids and all, but they didn't take care of me. My father didn't come home so I just stayed inside my room and waited for him to come home.
"Then?" he is asking for more. I don't know if he is simply curious or he is low-key blaming me about what happened to his family.
"They stayed there for one week and then the news about the King's death, broke out. The next thing I knew, my father was summoned by the Sesgado. I don't know if they're with my father right now. I told them not to leave the house until I come back. I hope father took care of them"
"Thank You!" there is no hint of sarcasm, only genuine, that he is really thankful for what I did for his sisters.
"It's fine. Your sisters are lovely" it's true. Sammy and Rhaya are both lovely and beautiful.
"And dirty" My eyes widened at his remark. How can he say that to his sisters? What kind of a brother is he?
"Hey! I gave them a bath. I bought them clothes" When I invited Rhaya and Sammy, they were indeed really dirty. But I gave them a bath and bought clothes for them. I really hope Papa took care of them. I also wish Rhaya and Sammy will make Papa happy since I won't be coming home.
I kept looking around when Gio and I were walking to the place where we will wash our clothes.
We have been walking for almost ten minutes now but we still haven't reached the place. We walked for about five minutes more before we finally reach the place.
As I was expecting, there were Kavans guarding the area, what I did not expect is that we are at the end of the island. So prisoners wash their clothes here? It's given that the ocean provides us the water to wash the clothes but that's just impossible. Our clothes will smell salty.
I was busy making a disbelief face and judging whoever come up with the idea of washing clothes in the ocean when Gio stole my attention.
"What a judgmental princess you are. If you're thinking we will wash our clothes in the ocean, quit it. Look over here!" I search for Gio and saw him standing by a, creak? Oh! I was embarrassed for a moment, I am so judgmental.
So the prisoners wash their clothes in the creak-like area near the ocean. Great. I hope it's not salty.
I went near Gio and we head to the washing place. I even saw some of the prisoners washing their clothes. I thought Gio would talk to them because I saw him being close with other Kavan trainees so I thought he had friends from another workforce too but I guess I was wrong since he stayed far from the other prisoners.
While preparing all the soap and basin, I tried scooping a small amount of water from the creek, on my hand. I sighed in relief after smelling the water, good thing it did not smell salty. I saw Gio giving me the 'you are so judgmental' look so I avoided his gaze. My glaze met another prisoner's eyes who is washing his clothes. At first, I thought he was just looking in our direction but as I look closely, I saw him looking at me. I did not mind it though, he is just probably wondering who I was since I am definitely a new face.
"Did you get it?" Gio asked me after explaining and demonstrating how to properly.
"Yeah" I simply answered. How hard could it be? You just have to hold the cloth and rub it against each other while holding it in both your hands. I am sure I can do it.
I grab a shirt, wet it by dipping it in the water then I put some soap and on the shirt and started rubbing it against each other. Just when I thought I was getting the hang of it when I notice Gio trying to suppress his laugh while watching me. What?
"Why are you laughing?" I asked Gio while still washing the shirt.
"I just realized you are such a princess" What now? Why does everyone say that? I am certainly not a princess. If the queen hears them, she will probably cook them alive. The queen wants the throne for herself and her son. The prince.
"Shut it! I am not. Why do you keep saying that?" I barked at Gio but he just laughed at my remark.
"Because you're doing it wrong, you should put more force so that you can remove all the dirt from that shirt"
"Oh!" I know! I know! I probably sound stupid arguing over something I know nothing of.
"Ugh! That was so tiring!" after we finished washing the clothes, we went home and hang the clothes. My hands are so tired from wringing all the clothes and we had to carry them on our way home, good thing Gio transferred some of my clothes in his basket, it made my basket less heavy than it should be.
I was so tired that I fell asleep and wake up at dinner time. Gio prepared dinner and we talk about random things.
Gio planned on giving me a tour of the island which I declined. It's too far to walk. There is no car on the island except the one that we used when we get here. I think that's the only car on the island.
After dinner, Gio and I went to sleep. The day was so tiring that we did not find trouble sleeping.
The next day went out so fast. We just rested for the whole day and talked about random things again. Which I think is good because we'll be cellmates for the rest of our lives, right? It's better to have a close relationship with my cellmate.
What I am nervous about is tomorrow. My first day of training. Now, let's all hope it's not going to be hard as we all think.
