Jack was walking away from the ruins that his house had been transformed into within seconds. He, like everyone who had survived the explosion was making his way towards the purple ray of light that pointed towards the sky. The phone lines were dead that is for those whose phones were still intact and no means of communication could be found or accessed.
Max stood motionless starring at what was once known as frost-bane technologies. There were bodies everywhere and he was still looking for that of his friend Stanley when he saw two figures walking towards him. It was Sam and his brother Jacob. Jacob had revived his brother who woke up to see the amageddon. Sam was supporting his shoulder which had sustained an injury during the collapse of their house.
