The sun blazed overhead, and the temperature kept rising. Even the sea breeze carried a scorching heat.
Martin and Aimee felt like they were being roasted alive.
In such conditions, they couldn't hold on for much longer.
"No, I absolutely refuse to drink my own bodily fluids." Even though she was about to give in, Aimee still couldn't accept this method.
Martin didn't answer Aimee because he was so dehydrated that he didn't even have the strength to speak.
Martin was beginning to see things, possibly hallucinating.
"On that beach over there, I think I see someone, one person, no, it seems like two." Martin tilted his head, trying to see if there were any coconut trees around, but he didn't find any. Instead, he vaguely saw two figures lying on the beach.
Martin didn't think he was really seeing someone; he thought it was just a hallucination.
"I think I see it too!" Aimee looked in the direction Martin mentioned and spoke weakly.
"Hmm? What?" Martin was startled when he heard Aimee's words.
This didn't seem to be a hallucination.
After a moment, Martin focused his eyes and looked carefully.
On the beach, about two hundred meters away, there did seem to be two figures lying there, and they appeared to be two women.
The two lay motionless on the beach, and it was unclear whether they were alive or dead.
"There really is someone!" Martin confirmed to Aimee.
Earlier in the day, if they saw other people on this deserted island, Martin and Aimee would have been very happy.
But now, they couldn't feel any joy because they themselves were in dire straits. Without a water source, they wouldn't last through the day.
"Shall we go over and take a look?" Aimee gritted her teeth and sat up.
Aimee felt the same as Martin, but she still wanted to go over and see if these two were still alive.
"Alright!" Martin nodded. Although he was weak, the distance wasn't too far, so it wouldn't hurt to take a look.
After a while, Martin and Aimee staggered towards the two figures.
The two hundred meters wasn't too far, but it wasn't close either, especially for the dehydrated Martin and Aimee.
It took them several minutes to cover the two hundred meters.
Indeed, lying on the beach were two girls.
They seemed to be around the same age as Martin and Aimee, one with long hair and the other with short hair.
The long-haired girl wore a white long dress, had a graceful figure, an oval face, and delicate features. Although she wasn't quite as striking as Aimee, she was definitely a beauty.
The short-haired girl had heavy makeup marks on her face, and her clothing was extremely revealing, with very short shorts and a very short top, exposing almost everything except the private parts.
One was modest, the other bold.
Both girls were wet, their bellies slightly distended. Martin guessed they had just arrived on this beach, likely washed ashore by the previous waves.
"Martin, they seem to be from our university. They look familiar!" Aimee suddenly said to Martin after carefully observing the two girls.
Martin didn't find Aimee's words surprising.
Half of the passengers on the ill-fated cruise were from Hereward University. It wasn't unusual to encounter them, just as he had met Aimee.
"It's her!" The next moment, when Martin's gaze fell on the short-haired girl, he was visibly shaken, his expression shifting.
"Do you know her?" Aimee asked curiously when she saw Martin's expression.
Martin first nodded, then shook his head: "Sort of."
Martin's expression seemed a bit gloomy.
Aimee was quite surprised to hear that Martin actually knew this girl.
"Hmm?" Just as Aimee was about to continue asking, she noticed that Martin's eyes lit up as he walked towards the short-haired girl.
Martin looked like a starving wolf spotting a feast.
Aimee also noticed Martin's expression and glared: "Even now, you're having those kinds of thoughts?"
Aimee thought Martin had some bad thoughts because of the short-haired girl's flamboyance.
Martin glanced back at Aimee and gave a helpless smile. He was so thirsty that he couldn't have any bad thoughts.
Besides, even if he had any bad intentions, it wouldn't be towards her, and definitely not right in front of her.
Martin didn't have the energy to explain to Aimee. He half-squatted in front of the short-haired girl and took out a backpack from under her.
It was a man's hiking backpack, probably not belonging to the girl, possibly washed ashore with the tide earlier.
But now wasn't the time to worry about whose backpack it was, because Martin saw what was inside.
The hiking backpack was partially open, revealing some clothes, bread, and other food items, and also two bottles of 500ml mineral water.
What Martin needs most right now is undoubtedly water.
This is practically his lifesaver.
"There's water!" Aimee's eyes lit up as she saw the water in the backpack and she quickly ran over to Martin.
It was almost the same as when Martin's eyes lit up earlier.
Like a hungry wolf seeing food, or seeing light in the darkness.
"So it was because of the water..." Aimee recalled the earlier situation and realized she had misunderstood Martin.
She felt a bit embarrassed.
"Besides water, did you think I had any other bad intentions?" Martin quipped at Aimee while making a joke.
Now that he saw the water, Martin felt much better, at least they didn't have to resort to the difficult option he had mentioned earlier.
Aimee felt the same, her eyes were glued to the bottled water in the backpack.
Seeing this, Martin took a bottle of water from the backpack and handed it to Aimee: "You drink first!"
As for the other bottle, Martin didn't touch it.
Aimee saw Martin's action and could guess that he intended to save the other bottle for emergencies.
And indeed, that was the case.
Although they were extremely short of water, precisely because of this, Martin had to consider the time ahead.
Unless absolutely necessary, or if they couldn't find another water source, this other bottle would be their lifesaving water.
At this moment, Aimee felt a bit touched looking at Martin.
True feelings come out in tough times. Martin's situation wasn't much better than hers, but at this moment, he thought of her first.
"Gulp, gulp..." The sound of gulping echoed as Aimee, in a state of thirst, could no longer hold back and opened the bottle cap, drinking large gulps without worrying about her appearance.
