It was finally time to fill Alvin in on the whole situation. My life was about to change and I hadn’t talked to him about it much at all.
I sent him a text to come over later and tapped Ginny’s name. I read through the last few texts we’d exchanged. She was leaving the next day, and I was making plans with someone else.
I couldn’t focus on her anymore. I loved her, but the timing wasn’t right for us. Maybe if she wasn’t going to compete and would be staying on the same island as me, I’d push for more, but even that wouldn’t be fair to her. She had a life, and she never signed up for a kid. It was better if I just let her go. It was obviously what she wanted.
