Chapter 2

The rest of the day passed by fast, Lacy had left for her doctor's appointment and I was left alone to hide and eat in the library because I didn't want to bump into the Greek god gang, that just happened to be everywhere. Mai was still in Hawaii and it appeared that almost everyone I knew went on vacation but me, we still had a bunch of video chats to plan our bucket list, I can’t believe I stayed up to three am for them and what they put on the bucket list was ‘help Mel get a boyfriend’. It was nice of them to look out for me but at the same time, I was surprised that they noticed my lack of males in my life.

It wasn’t long until the school was over and for once I begged the clock to slow down. I headed towards the detention room which I had to ask direction to since I never been to one.

It was my first time in detention.

When I entered the room some of the people around looked at me and gasped. Is it that shocking that the school’s biggest nerd got detention? Well, I wouldn't call myself a school nerd. But I actually have the title and a reputation to stick to. It’s probably the only title I’ll ever get in life so I learned to cherish it. There was nothing wrong with having an IQ higher than everyone else's in the school.

"Nerd's first time in detention, let's give her a warm welcome," Said no one other than Theo Grey himself. He was probably enjoying this so much because of the amusement in his eyes that he didn’t even try to hide.

"I never forget a face but in this case, I will gladly make an exception," I smiled and took a seat at the end of the classroom. I decided to take a little nap since I already finished all my homework. I put my head down, resting in peace until I hear Grey's annoying voice. I looked up at him, frowning.

"Hey, nerd! Why don't you and I sneak out and go to my house so we can have some fun," He smirked.

"Sure, why not," I said excitedly.

"Really?" His face was shocked as hell but was also mixed with uncertainty. His boys coughed up laughs and smiles.

"What do you think Grey? Of course not! The only way you'll ever get laid is if you crawl up a chicken's ass and wait!" I said and went back to my attempt to sleep.

"Hey, nerd! Can you d-"

"Stop it, Grey! Can't you see I'm busy! Can’t you bother me some other time or perhaps never at all? Stop calling me a nerd, dumb ass," I could hear him laugh. I don't know how my suffering could be amusing but by the sound of his voice, he found it awfully hilarious. I moved around a couple of times to find a perfect position to sleep in.

"Hey, nerd! Use this," I looked up and him and he extended his arm towards me with his hoodie. I looked at him, trying to find anything in his expression to tell me something was up. His friends were on their phones, not bothered to see what was happening. Was Theo Gray trying to be nice to me or have I fallen into a deep slumber already?

"Are you sure?" I asked. He nodded with a smile. That's just creepy and weird, I thought to myself. I took it quickly before he could change his mind not caring about the possible consequences. I used it as a pillow and immediately fell asleep with his smell surrounding me.

*poke*

*poke*

*poke*

"Leave me alone Lacy otherwise I swear I'll rip your throat out with my teeth," I said and the poking stopped. I relaxed and felt myself drifting off again.

*poke* *poke* *poke*

"Oh my god!" I yelled and put my head up, my eyes slightly adjusting to the brightness of the light. I screamed at the sight of Theo Gray smiling happily in front of me. I was so confused thinking that it was Lacy since the girl has a habit of waking me up by tickling or poking me.

"Chill we're not going to murder you," He said trying to hold in his laughter.

"Sorry, your face gave me a fright! Where am I? Am I in hell? No wonder your here," I said yawning, saying the last part more as a whisper.

"Told you we should have left her here," I looked at Derek who was standing there.

"That's not nice!" I said and put my head back down.

“Well I needed my hoodie back,” Theo said bluntly.

"Don't go back to sleep! The school is closing unless you would like to sleep here," Noah interrupted me. I immediately shot my head up and looked up at the clock. It was already five, thirty-nine.

"But detention ends at three? Why didn't you wake me up?" I asked.

"Because we thought a nerd like you would love to sleep in school," Said Derek.

"I have things to do not like you people who go around vandalizing school property!" I said knowing how they spend their precious time after detention was over. I stood up and walked out of the class. I realized that I was holding Theo's sweatshirt so I walked back to give it to him.

"Thanks," I said and threw it at him.

"Anytime angel," He said and winked. Ew, so not attractive! Why do boys even do that?

I walked home since my only ride home was Lacy, but since she is at home, I'm not going to bother her so I might as well just take the bus. As I was walking there, I noticed a black car was following me. I looked back but I couldn't see the driver. I quickly fast walked to the bus stop, to wait for the bus, I couldn’t stop moving around which happened to be a habit of mine when I’m nervous.

It should come in 10 minutes. I looked back and the car was parked on the opposite side. I watched as someone extremely tall opened the car door and stepped outside. There were two of them and they were wearing black suits with sunglasses. I wondered why they wore sunglasses since it was cloudy all day today. They looked like super agents to me.

Maybe I should walk to the next bus stop, I thought even though it was already getting dark and I didn’t know how far the next bus stop would be. Troubling Lacy who lived fifteen minutes away from here was out of the question. Maybe those guys weren’t coming at me but the seven-eleven that was behind me. I looked back and saw another guy get out of the car which made me more panicky. The third guy looked straight into my direction, giving me chills. They made swift motions with their hands pointing directly at me. I definitely can’t fight three guys!

Oh my god. What to do, what to do? I shook my head with a ‘hell naw’ threatening to escape because I’m not dying today. My mind already built a plan for me to survive. I decided to walk to the next bus stop and pretend I'm talking to a person since I've seen a lot of people do that in movies and it seems to work if you are trying to get rid of some bad people following you around. But there was one tiny problem, I wasn’t in some kind of movie where the main character doesn’t die in the end.

"Hey...Bob!" I randomly picked a name as my phone came in contact with my ear.

"Are you almost here? I'm freezing, hurry." I randomly blurred out. I made a pause to pretend I'm listening to him. Maybe if I act stupid they will leave me alone, but I can’t act suspicious otherwise they’ll start chasing me, god forbid that.

"You know, I'm such an i***t today! I lost all my money that I was going to use to buy a new phone instead of having this crappy thing that barely works!" I said, which wasn't fully a lie, my phone did suck. I looked back but they were walking slightly faster now. I pretended to look up at the sky and check the weather, making it seem less suss.

“Is it going to rain today? Hopefully not,” Rapists! They must be Rapists! Oh my god! I still heard footsteps which happened to be getting louder and louder.

"I'm still on my period, you know? So hurry up before I explode and murder you!" I said. I'm out of my mind. Officially.

Holy! I need a miracle! Jesus save me!

Should I call the police?

And tell them what? Your being followed? What if they are not following you?

"Get the girl!" I heard one of them whisper. I let out a scream and ran as fast as my legs can carry me. I don't know why I'm screaming. Trying to get attention? Maybe now is the time to call 911? I tried to dial 911, but I accidentally dropped my phone with my shaky hands. I looked back but they were getting closer. Screw it! I guess it's an excuse to get a new phone and thank god I saved all my photos to my computer. I ran and took a couple of turns to try and trick them. I looked back and they were gone. I celebrated a small victory by panting and kneeling on my knees with my hands.

"Thank... the... lord," I said out loud in between breaths. I was out of the big dark alley. I heard footsteps so I started running again. Oh god... here we go again! I should have known it was too good to be true.

I started running again but someone managed to grab my arm so I screamed as loud as I can for someone to hear and help me.

"I'm on my period! Let me go! I know self-defense!" I screamed again and kneeled the guy in the balls with my eyes closed.

"HOLY s**t! f**k. " I looked back and was surprised to see Theo lying on the floor.

"Oops," I couldn't stop myself from laughing even though I felt terribly sorry.

"Hey nerd, ge- Whoa, what happened there?" I heard Noah's voice. I looked around and saw Noah in a BMW car with Derek. They left the door open, which I supposed was where Theo got off.

"Would you like a ride nerd?" Asked Noah. I quickly grabbed Theo by the arm, apologizing to him as I pulled him towards the car. If I wasn't on the edge of death, I would never get in that roofless car that probably always exceeds the speed limit. I got in and looked back while closing the door.

"Go!" I yelled and the car started to move.

"Why do you look like you just s**t your pants?" I heard Derek ask.

"You don't know how thankful I am for your presence right now!" I let out a long sigh. It’s true, I really was for the first time in forever.

"You welcome angel!" Said Theo, thankfully forgiving me for what happened earlier however I still need to watch my back since he isn’t one to let go off things easily.

"Not you! Noah and his car," I simply said, still panting.

"What happened anyway?" I heard Theo ask. He was sitting beside me so I looked at him, I didn’t know if I should tell or maybe switch the topic.

"How does it feel getting your balls kicked for the first time?" I picked the second option. This caused laughter to explode in the car.

"It hurt like hell," He said angrily, turning away from me.

"Next time, I'll do much worse if you sneak up on me like that," I could have actually 's**t my pants'.

"You're funny for a nerd," I heard Derek say.

"You're stupid for a prankster,"

"Hey! I complimented you!" He said looking at me in the reflection.

"I would compliment you too but I don't want to lie," I fake smiled.

“So what did happen? Did ya see the boogie man or somethin'?” Derek joked causing me to scoff.

“Not even close, some weirdos in suits tried to kidnap me,” I said finally taking in a deep breath.

“Why would someone want to kidnap you?” I earned another insult from Theo which I just brushed it off. The car came to a stop and I got out as I saw the familiar house that I called home. I then froze coming into a realization about something.

"How do you guys know where I live?" I asked but they just smiled and drove off after saying a quick goodbye. Stalkers. Why is the world full of them? I walked home and as soon as I opened the door my mom came rushing to me and gave me a hug.

"Thank god you're alright!" She said with tears in her eyes. She pulled me inside and closed the door.

"We have some very important things to talk about!"
