Chapter 3

"Hey, mom!" I greeted her as she pulled me in the living room. Ok, she's creeping me out. I only see her in the mornings when she gives me a ride to school but all day she's at work, so why is she home so early? "So why are you so early?" I asked the question that was in my head since I came in. "We have something very important to discuss," She said in a serious voice and here I thought she'd want to spend some quality mother-daughter time together. "Sit," She pointed at the sofa. Is she sending me away? Oh my god... she might! A few days ago, I overheard my mother talking to someone on the phone about sending me away to a boarding school. It broke my heart because I thought my mother loved me enough to keep me. "Mom, please don't send me away!" I said with tears in my eyes as looked down on my hands, not wanting her to see me cry. I've tried my best to be the perfect daughter but everyone has flaws and mine are just a tad bit bigger. "Honey, I'm not sending you away," "Y-You're not?" I asked looking up. "No honey! Don't ever think that I'll give you away," I looked down again. "But you're father-" I looked back at her with anger in my eyes. "Don't you dare talk about that bastard that abandoned us!" I yelled. He abandoned us when I was only six for some young model that happened to be interested in him. It was heartbreaking for my mother and me but we got over it somehow, we stayed strong. "The truth is... he didn't abandon us... he left to protect us, you see he owns the biggest company in America and some people are always trying to kill him for it so his company can shut down, he left us to protect us but he promised that he'll be back as soon as he passes down the ownership of the company to someone else. None knows that he has a family and that's why he left us." She said and sat next to me. "After ten years this is his answer. When will he be coming back then?" I asked, still unsure about how I should feel. "In three months he will be able to return to us," "So..? You could have told me this in three months, I mean I would still hate him then," I said honestly. "Honey, they found out about his family, they found out about us and they are going after you or me, and that's why I've hired someone to always be with you and to protect you," She paused for a moment. "He is my best friends son and he goes to your school. I believe he is in some of your classes but it's ok because he will switch to have the exact same schedule as you for the time being," I nodded although I wasn’t much concerned about that. The guys in suits from earlier were after me because of my dad, things were starting to add up now. "Mom, you're saying that you hired a complete stranger to follow me around like some creep?" I asked not believing my own words. "Yes honey, I believe I have," I facepalmed myself. "And he knows how to fight so that's good," She said as she smiled. "Mom, I know how to fight!" Believe it or not but I used to fight at the bars. Yeah... I did. I went by the code name Red, I guess I just like the color so much that I named myself after it, I stopped when my mom found out. She got suspicious after seeing me come home with a bruised cheek, I tried to say that I fell but that was my excuse for about everything. Let's just say things weren't easy, she was pissed, very pissed, and she was worried so she made me promise to never bar fight against men or women again. I keep my promises but I still practiced in my walking closet, but she doesn't need to know that. "Honey! It's been a month since that happened, you probably don't remember how to!" Oh trust me mother, I do. "So, when am I meeting the stranger?" I asked. What if he is hot? What if we become close friends, or maybe boyfriend? What if we get married and have kids? Awe that would be so cute! A girl can dream...I just can’t help but be a hopeless romantic. 'Stop.' What? 'You don't even know how the guy looks like!' Yeah, I do. He probably has muscles since he can fight. 'Yeah maybe he does or maybe he is a total jerk with no muscles but guns instead.' Woah, you're taking things to far! 'Yeah, and you're not? Marriage, kids, s*x blah blah blah..' Go away! And I didn't say s*x! 'But you thought of it...' Stop. 'Mel. s*x. Mel. Se-' "Stop!" I said aloud by accident. Oh god, I'm officially out of my mind! 'Yeah, you are..' Go away! Silence... "What did you say, honey?" I looked to my side but my mom wasn't there, I guess I didn't even notice her leave. "What time are they coming?" "In around one hour, so please behave and make yourself look approachable!" She said harshly and I got up walking to my room. I always looked approachable and it wasn't my fault that I had a natural b***h face. As I got to my room, I immediately dropped dead on my bed and decided to doze off for a bit. "Hey angel, wake up," I heard Theo's voice. Is this another nightmare? Please go away. "Wake up," He said again. This is my imagination, does that mean I can turn him into a toad, like the evil voodoo guy from princess and the frog? "Theo's a frog now, go away frog, unless you want me to turn you into a fly since flies don't live that long," I laugh to myself evilly. "Haha, very funny," I heard him again. "Mmm, I know but I do prefer cows over pigs like you," I said yawning. "Wow, you can even insult me when you are half asleep, open your eyes angel," his voice echoed in my head. I opened my eyes slowly and there he was, his face, so close. I realized that I was not dreaming so I screamed. Again. "Oh god, what is it with you and screaming?" He said standing up and holding his ears. "Sorry, what are you doing here?" "Well, your mo-" My eyes widened as I realized that I was supposed to be ready to meet that guy. "Sorry, get out now please," I pushed him out of my room. "Thank you for visiting my lovely bedroom, never come back!" I smiled and closed the door in his face, as I locked it. Time to change. 'What to wear? What to wear?' Oh god, you're back again! 'I never left.' I ignored myself and walked to my closet, it was big. I had a lot of clothes but I mostly never wore them because they weren't my type. Most of them are from Aunt Kelsey, love that woman but her sense of style is very different from mine. I'm all big hoodies and sweatpants but she's all like tight skirts and cute shirts. But I do like them, I just don't have anywhere to wear them to and school isn't the exact place I would like to wear these clothes too. First impressions are very important! 'Wear a skirt.' No, I want to be myself. 'No, I want to be myself.' Stop. I blocked her away. I think I'm officially going crazy. "Ohh, ripped jeans," I picked them up and looked at it. Cute. I don't even know what's in my closet, to be honest. I decided to wear the jeans and my favorite hoodie that I only wear at home because it says 'cry baby' which is Melanie Martinez's playlist called. Is it fate for me to love her so much because we share the same name? Her voice is amazing! I quickly styled my hair in a bun and walked downstairs. "Honey, please meet Alicia and David, and- oh where is your son?" My mom asked the two strangers that were standing in front of me as I smiled at them. "Right here," I heard a familiar voice. "Honey, meet Theo Grey, your new friend," All I hear was his name. I turned around to see Theo as he smirked. 'And you thought of having babies with Theo, you need a reality check girlfriend!' Said my inner voice. And that's when I lost it. The last thing I remembered was the living room spinning before I fell into complete darkness.
