The next morning as Christy cleaned up the convenience store the door opened and bell rang as someone walked it.
" Hell-"she looked up and Adrian" you ?"
" What ? You don't want a customer? Should I go ? "
"What do you want to buy?"
"Thirty minutes of your time "
Christy scoffed " sorry but my time is not for sale . I'm quite busy so if you aren't buying anything yet , I have work to do "
"When would you be free then ?"
Starting to get annoyed, Christy faced him " mister , most people would tag you as weird , do you know that ? "
" Why?"
" One, you can't enter a*****e when the open sign isn't up yet , two -"
" Do you always have a reason for everything? "
" well, I like to live my life with some few evidence, now if you excuse me "
Christy went about cleaning the store and Adrian stood there at the counter watching her.
The bell rang, her boss walked in.
" Good morning" Christy greeted.
" Morning" he looked around and his eyes caught Adrian.
Adrian waved at him " don't mind me and go on "
" Okay " boss walked towards Christy and whispered in her ears " did you bring that weirdo?"
Christy stiffled her laughter " be careful boss. He's a customer "
"Really? Then why is he here when we haven't opened yet ?"
Christy nodded her head " as expected , boss. You are a man that never ceases to amaze me"
" Anyways, get rid of him fast , okay ?"
" Do I get a tip?"
" Yes "
" Hurray!! "Christy hurriedly went towards Adrian and pulled him out .
" What is it ?"
" Are you free now ? "
" Yes , so what is it ? "
" Can I have your number?"
" No "
" Why ?"
" Do you really ask questions without thinking why ?"
"Sometimes "
" Then we are done here" Christy turned around to leave when Adrian grabbed her hand and held her back
" okay, how about after we get to know eachother better ? "
" I'll think about it "
" So can I come here when you are done ?"
" Are you jobless?"
" Not exactly "
" Then that's my same reply "
Adrian suddenly blurted out"yes ! I'm jobless, it's that your same reply too ?"
" Yes, so just go . Mister "
" What time would you be done ?"
Christy smirked" That's for me to know and you to find out " and walked into the store.
" He seems interested in you " her boss said
" He looks like a typical playboy. I just said yes to get him out . My tip"
Her boss shook his head and handed her 10 dollars.
Christy flapped the money " not what I was expecting but not bad "
She happily jumped to the front of the store and changed the sign from " closed" to " open "
While working she recalled what happened the day Anna sent her that message.
Anna had walked into the school premises and was called to the principal's office.
" Anna " principal Moseby said"Victoria here says that you and your friends have been bullying her, is that true ?"
" Excuse me , what's the point of asking?" Victoria's Mom shouted " my daughter would never lie and look at the mark on her face and body she was obviously bullied. Bring her parents right now "
Anna's hand twitched .
" Anna , call your parents " principal moseby said
" I don't have parents "
" I knew it! " Victoria's Mother exclaimed" people like you aren't raised well and pick on your younger colleagues and vent on them "
" Victoria's mom please calm down " Principal Moseby turned to Anna " call your grandparents "
Anna shook her head " no , I can't . They have a weak heart and -"
" Call someone ! Dammit !" Victoria's Mother shouted .
Anna picked up her phone and had messaged her ; Christy , help me out , just this once . This will be the last time . pleaseeeeee.
Christy sighed .Was Grandma right ?
Was she actually raising Anna the right way ?
And with all her problems ,one weird guy from nowhere comes asking her for her number .
She sighed.This 10 dollars better not be stolen today .

Adrian waited in his car outside and watched her , he was drawn to her for some reason .
Was it when he came to buy some vernolin and she said they didn't have but they did ?
It was obvious she wasn't educated but yet she was the first person to talk down at him just because he asked for some directions.
He smiled as the memory replayed in his mind.
He was drawn to her alright and today he was going to find out why .
When noon reached , Christy stretched .
"My shift is finally over "
"That guy has been waiting there since" manager Dave said pointing to the red car outside .
"Who ?" Christy looked at where he was pointing and smiled "Ah, him . he'll leave when he's ready "
"You have no intentions of meeting him at all ?"
" Of course . Listen manager. A weird guy shows up from no where and asks for your number ,what do you think that means ? "
" I don't know. what does that mean ?"
Christy shook her head in disappointment" it means he has an ulterior motive . Which school did you graduate from?"
Dave playfully threw a can at her " I knew that "
Christy laughed" yes yes "
Adrian watched her as she laughed. Really , why was he drawn to her ?
His phone rang .
"Bridget "
" Come home at now, mom is freaking out "
" Okay"
Beep!
The line went down .
Aish , he would come tomorrow. He thought and drove off.
Christy stopped laughing and looked outside as she saw the car drive off.
" you see, I told you he had ulterior motives . I'll get going now ".
She left the convenience store not knowing why she felt a small surge of disappointment that he'd left.

When Adrian rushed home, he quickly went to meet Bridget.
" Where's mom ?" He asked hurriedly.
" Hey!" She screamed " before you go anywhere next time tell someone okay ? You know mom has a weak heart . The least we should do right now is making her freak out "
" I know , so where is she ?!!!"
Startled by his outburst, Bridget pointed to the backyard.
Adrian ran to it.
"Mom!" He called out.
Celine stared out at the sky and sighed as she turned around to the voice of her son " son "
" Hmm"
" Are you seeing someone?"
Adrian scoffed" mom ! I heard you were freaking out . Is whether I'm seeing someone or not important right now "
Celine nodded her head " yes. You know I don't have much time left "
Adrian sighed and hugged his mother from behind" don't say that . You'll see me get married . I mean it "
Celine looked up at him " so there is a girl ?"
Adrian laughed" mom!!"
Celine laughed.
Bridget watched them and headed to her room . She was back to being unnoticed in the family but it's okay as long as mom is alright. She told herself.
She called her husband" honey "
" Hmm"
" Let's not tell anyone yet about the baby "
" Really ? But you were excited to tell mother "
Bridget sighed" Mother has other things to deal with . Let's keep it to ourselves for now ,okay ?"
" Okay , honey. I love you "
" Hmm, me too "
Beep !
The line went down.
Bridget threw her phone across the bed and wept silently.
