CHAPTER 3

As Adrian went for a drive , he suddenly realized how much he missed the view.
The place has really changed alot but one thing remained constant and it was the terrible traffic.
When he looked around , Adrian saw the girl from the convenience store pulling a younger girl by her ears as they walked into the convenience store.
Curious to what was going on , Adrian parked his car in front of the convenience store and came down .
As he got closer to the store, their conversation became clear
"How many times would I warn you to stop hanging out with bullies, huh?" Christy scolded anna still pulling her ears " the sane thing always happens and you come back asking me for help"
"Christy, could you please stop pulling my ears , it hurts "
" it's supposed to hurt "
When Adrian opened the door and walked in Anna exclaimed in joy as this was her ticket to escape " welcome "
"I'm not falling for that again"
"Excuse me "Adrian said
Christy faced him in shock and quickly removed her hands from Anna's ear.
"Thank you so much for walking in .I owe you my life ,sir" Anna said to adrian and faced Christy " sis, I'll be going now . take your time with work and come home really late , okay ?" And she ran out
Christy breathe in and out to let her anger subside and faced adrian with a forced smile on her face " how many I help you ?"
" uh, you see its my first time here and I was wondering if you could direct me to hemming's park?"Adrian said the first thing that came to his mind because he didn't actually come here to buy something.
" hmm, hemming's park ?"
" yes"
"Excuse me , did you come here with your eyes closed?"
Taken aback by her change in mood adrian replied " what?"
"I mean , look over there "
Christy said pointing to a park directly infront of the store " can you see that sign?"
" yes"
" what does it say ?"
" hemm...hemming's park " Adrian scratched his head " how come I didn't see it before "
" exactly, how come ?"
" anyways, thank you "
Christy shook her head and brought out her phone to call her Grandma" Grandma, are you nearby?"
" yes, why?"
"Anna is on her way home , she got into trouble again . hurry home and keep her locked up for me , I'm on my way "
" okay"
After she disconnected the call, Christy looked for Dave " i'm going home early today, see you later"
"okay, bye Christy"
As Christy was about to leave , a female customer walked in wearing a huge pair of sun glasses .
"who's here?" She asked and Christy paused .
That voice she has heard it before . She started feeling goosebumps .
where did she hear it ?
"forget about it, Christy" she told herself and ran home

" Get over here" Christy said reaching for Anna who was hiding behind Grandma Carol
"Grandma, I'm scared" Anna said holding Carol tightly
"Christy, haven't you beaten her enough before?" Grandma carol asked
"That's right " Anna said
"Grandma, you can't be defending her, she never listens and always keeps on hanging out with bullies "
" what else do you want me to do , huh?" Anna said coming forward and crying softly" the kids at school always make fun of me of not having a mom and dad, the only way I can look strong is if I hang out with them. You don't know how that feels because you never finished school".
Anna ran into the bedroom and shut the door .
Christy ran after her , she made an attempt to open the door but it was locked .
Christy knocked" hey, Anna. Open the door ".
No response
"hey, we share the same room , do you really want me to use the spare key ?" Christy threatened .
A click sound was heard and the door opened .
Christy sat on the bed and wiped Anna's tears
"you don't have to hang out with bullies, Anna .you are just giving people a wrong impression of yourself by doing so. And what did you say before ? They say you don't have a mom and dad? That's nonsense, I'm your mom and dad ,just like you are mine. You are already in your final year so you can put up with everything for a while . rumors shouldn't matter if its not true"
With tears in her eyes , Anna hugged her sister " I'm sorry "
" its okay "
When Anna refrained from her , she wiped her tears
" about earlier.....I'm sorry , I didn't really mean it "
Christy forced a smile , she didn't want Anna to feel worse
" what's there to be sorry about ? You just said the truth . it's getting late , you should sleep . I'm going to get a glass of water "
Anna nodded her head and laid down on the bed and Christy went out to have a glass of water.
" It's hard isn't it ?" Grandma Carol asked
" What is ?"
" Raising a teen. But you want to know something ? You are doing a good job Christy."
" That's because you are here. You have to live a very long life Grandma . "
" Of course . I'm going to live long and walk you down the aisle at least "
" Promise?"
" Promise"
