I'VE GOT YOU ON MY MIND

Christy got home and saw Grandma Carol and Grandpa Hector on the couch reading as usual.
"Grandma, Grandpa. I'm home "
Grandma looked up from her newspaper and ran up to her." Why do you look so pale? Did something happen ?"
Christy laughed it off " pale , my foot . I'm okay . Nothing happened. "
"Really?"
"Yes. I'm going to take a shower real quick and sleep. I'm tired"
"Okay, you should rest "
Christy walked away to her room but then that guy still kept on bothering her.
Should she ask Grandma about it ?
She turned around" Grandma"
"Yes, what is it ?"
She shook her head ." It's nothing . Goodnight "
" Okay"
Grandma Carol tapped Hector" hey, stop reading that already. I think something is wrong with Christy"
Grandpa lowered his newspaper " me too. "
"Really? Then why didn't you say anything to her"
"She wasn't ready to tell us yet and I'm sure it has to do with a guy "
Grandma smiled and clapped her hands " I was thinking the same too ".
Anna walked in . " Why are you two so happy ?"she looked around " is Christy home ?"
"Yes, you can go inside " Grandma said and looked back at Grandpa and they both smiled at eachother.
Anna shook her head and held her breath as she walked inside their room .
"Sis..I'm here " Anna said in a shaking voice.
Christy looked up at her and sighed " okay "
Anna threw her bag on the bed and walked up to Christy .
"What is going on ? You aren't beating me today ?"
" I'm tired "
" He'll call "
Christy looked at Anna in shock " what?"
Anna smiled" whoa, there really is a guy ?"
Christy laughed awkwardly "stop saying nonsense and go and shower "
" Okay "
"But ..where did you hear that ?"
"About the guy ? I heard Grandma and Grandpa talking about it as I walked in "
Anna ran to shower and Christy looked at her phone.
"He can't call because you didn't give him your number " she pulled her head " why am I worried about a strange guy? I should be glad he's gone "
"You are probably worried because he's the first guy to be interested in you "Anna says sticking her head out of the bathroom.
"Get out, Anna" Christy said throwing stuffs at her.
But could that really the reason? She shook her head.
She had no time to be thinking about a strange guy .she had to take care of her family.
"That's right . Snap out of it , Christy. "
She got into her bed and slept off.
There's nothing a goodnight sleep can't fix afterall.
The following morning, Adrian ran to the convenience store and saw Christy already setting up the store and ready to open up.
He walked in .
Christy looked up and continued mopping the floor.
" About yesterday-"
"There's no need to explain. I don't care "
"I owe you an explanation. My Mom is sick so I had to rush home "
Christy looked up at him " is she alright?"
Adrian smiled " so you were curious?"
" Of course. Is she really alright?"
" Yes, she is"
Christy sighed " That's a relief. But hey, shouldn't you be with your mom instead of being here ?"
"Mom is alright and I want to be here "
Christy bit her lips to suppress her smile.
The door opened and Anna walked in .
"Hey, shouldn't you be in school?"
Anna slumped down on a chair " I want to buy some snacks. Grandma woke me up to early and didn't even allow me to eat before leaving " she held out her credit card " here "
Christy smiled and took her card "give me a minute"
Anna looked around and saw Adrian " oh, it's you . Mr lifesaver"
" What ?"
Anna shook her head " what are you doing here so early ? The store hasn't opened for the day yet "
Adrian scratched his head "W-Well-"
Christy came back with some snacks in a paper bag " here you go "
Anna took them " Thank you " she turned to face Adrian "see you later, brother-in-law"
"Hey brother-in-law, my foot. Come back here!"Christy shouted after her but Anna was gone.
Adrian smiled " she's cute "
" Hey, hurry up and go . People are starting to get the wrong idea"
Adrian nodded his head " I'll go "
" Really ?"
" Yes " he pushed out his phone to her "after you give me your number"
Christy sighed , took his phone and punched in her digits" here, are we good ?"
Adrian smiled as he held his phone and shouted as he headed out " make sure to pick up when I call unless I'll be coming back here "
Christy smiled and when she turned around she yelped as she saw Dave .
"You scared me "
"What's making you so happy early in the morning?"
Christy shook her head " it's nothing. "
Dave watched her as she continued mopping the ground and shook his head as he muttered" she's gone. Too gone "
As her school bell rang, Anna yawned and laid her head on the table.
She closed her eyes and was about to sleep when someone tapped her.
" What ?" she asked
" Our homeroom teacher is asking of you " the student said and left .
Anna sighed as she stood up from her chair and headed towards the staff room .
She went to the front of Mr Nate, their homeroom teacher.
" You called ?"
He looked up at her " Yes, Anna I just got a call from your Grandpa. Your Grandma is in the hospital "
Anna felt like a truck had hit her " what ? Which hospital? How is she ? -"
"Anna , relax "
"Which hospital!!" She shouted .
The homeroom teacher wrote the hospital address on a piece of paper and handed it to her.
She took in and ran out of the staff room.
She got to bustop and climbed on to the bus .
With shaking hands , she brought out her phone and texted Christy ; Grandma is in the hospital. This is the address.
When the bus stopped, Anna came down and ran to the hospital .
She rushed over to the receptionist"Do you have a patient here by the name Carol?"
"Carol...let me see"
" Anna" someone called .
Anna looked back and saw her Grandpa" Grandpa"
She ran to hug him and cried.
" Why ? Why is this happening to us again ?"
Grandpa hugged her and cried too.
Anna refrained from him and wiped his tears " Grandma would be okay , right ?"
Grandpa nodded his head " right " he looked around" where is Christy? "
" I sent her a message . I'm sure she's so busy that she hasn't checked her phone yet "
" You should go back to school too. I can stay here alone "
Anna shooked her head and sniffed " No. I'm going to stay here with Grandma"
" Anna-"
"Then till Christy comes" she held her Grandpa's hand " let me stay "
Grandpa nodded his head " okay . Let's go . Grandma's room is this way "
Anna brought out her phone and checked her message to Christy.
It was still unread.
She sighed and followed grandpa .
