After her husband's crime and the low income, she could not pay her children's school fees. Thus, they had to drop out of school.
Emma, who had always loved being in school, was heartbroken to drop out of school. She was even more angry when they moved out of their condominium and moved to a small apartment that could only fit 3 mattresses and a small cabinet.

But what was even worse was that Covid-19 hit and both Emma's parents lost their job. they were already on the border line of being practically homeless and now that covid-19 hit, they were in the stage of poverty. They had to move out of their small apartment as they could not afford to live in there anymore. Emma, and her family moved to live on the streets and everyday, they had to wear torn clothes and torn shoes. They begged for money on the streets everyday, hoping that people would be kind enough to spare them a few dollars. But people were also having a hard time when covid came so not many people were willing to spare them money. Everyday, their income was below 5 dollars.
