Episode 3: THE BIDDING GAME

1076 Words
I bowed my head low, feeling the weight of the stares as I stood among the assembled alphas and Lycans. Their eyes wandered all over my body as if I were some object they could fight over. My heart pounded in my chest, my legs trembling beneath me. I wanted to disappear, flee this horror. But there was no way out. Not for someone like me. “Come forward,” I froze, not wanting to move. The Alpha who'd spoken glared at me, his amused eyes glinting. He went as Alpha Dominic, and he was one of the strongest Alphas in the area. He was well renowned for being ruthless. "You." He gestured towards me. "You." He pointed at me. "Dance." My stomach twisted. I felt the heat of humiliation rising to my face. Dance? I didn’t know how to dance. Not like the elegant girls who were born into privilege. Not like Maya. I glanced around, searching for an escape, but there was none. "I said dance!" I winced at the boom of Alpha Dominic's voice. His patience was wearing thin. With every eye on me, the crowd murmured, ready for me to pull a practical joke. I wanted to say no. My entire being begged for me to flee. However, I caught a glimpse of the Lycan king once more, discreetly observing, out of the corner of my eye. His eyes were locked on me, though they were difficult to read. Dominic moved closer to me. "Dance or I’ll make you." My heart raced. I had no choice. With trembling hands, I forced myself to move, my body stiff and awkward. I had never been taught to dance properly, and every step I took was clumsy and uncoordinated. The crowd’s laughter filled the air, the mocking whispers digging into my skin like needles. Above all, Dominic's icy chuckle could be heard. " Look at her! A pitiful little Omega that is incapable of even learning how to dance." I was crying within. I attempted to move on, but my limbs felt like they were made of stone, and my cheeks burned with shame. My heart was heavy with grief. I attempted to keep moving, but my limbs felt like they were made of stone, and my cheeks burned with shame. Every step was difficult. However, I once more saw the king staring at me with his eyes fixed on mine, silently observing. ‘Dominic yelled, "Enough," ending my awkward attempt at dancing. His smile grew, full of sadistic joy. He was taking pleasure in making me feel insignificant and helpless. However, just when I felt things couldn't get much worse, another Alpha came forward. He exuded much more danger because he was taller and older. Alpha Kane, a wolf notorious for his ferocity in combat, was his moniker. He was a commander to be feared, and as he examined every inch of me, his eyes glimmered with sadistic delight. Kane stated in a menacingly low voice, "I'll take her." "She may be worthless, but she could be taught skills. I'll enjoy shattering her." The blood in me turned cold. "Oh, no, Kane," he drawled. "I think this one’s mine. I called her first." Kane’s eyes narrowed. The tension between the two alphas was palpable, their rivalry sparking something dangerous in the air. The audience hushed as they eagerly observed the interaction. "Why don't we settle this the old-fashioned way, since we can't seem to agree?" Dominic smirked. Kane raised an eyebrow. "You mean bidding?" A quiet buzz of anticipation rippled through the gathered wolves. Bidding. They were going to bid on me like I was some object. I clenched my fists, trying to hide my shaking hands. I couldn’t believe this was happening. Dominic’s smile widened. "Exactly. The highest bidder gets the wolf. I couldn’t breathe. The humiliation, the fright, it was all too much. My whole body shook as the Alphas started to throw figures like I was a prize to be won. “Five hundred gold,” Kane said almost arrogantly. “Seven hundred,” Dominic countered quickly. The sound of each number that they said made my heart racing. The stakes were rising, and I was trapped in the middle of it. Kane did not give in and neither did Dominic. “A thousand,” Kane replied, raising the bids again. He smirkingly looked at Dominic as if challenging him to go to the next level. Dominic scowled before glancing at me and he smiled. "Fifteen hundred." I wanted to scream. I felt like I was choking to death, locked inside this malicious cage. No one here saw me as a person. I was just a means to an end—a way to entertain themselves. But then, something shifted. From the back of the crowd, a voice cut through the air, low and commanding. “ Two thousand." Everyone turned, and my breath cut in my throat. It was him. The Lycan king’s brother, dominant with a great presence that seemed to fill the room. He hadn’t said a word this whole time, but now he spoke, and the entire crowd fell silent. Alpha Dominic and Kane glanced at one another; their face twisted into discomfort. Two thousand was a lot. It was more than either of them had been willing to pay. For a moment, I thought they might give up. But Dominic wasn’t done. He stepped forward. "Twenty-five hundred." The Lycan king’s brother smirked a little. "Three thousand." Silence. I could feel the tension thick in the air. Dominic and Kane had gone quiet, their eyes fixed on the Lycan king’s brother, Unsure of whether to challenge further. Nobody, not even the strongest Alphas, desired to cross a Lycan royal. “Three thousand going once,” the announcer said. My heart pounded in my chest. Was this it? Would I be part of the Lycan king’s brother now? "Going twice." I felt a chill run down my spine. Just as the final words were about to be spoken, a new voice echoed with authority. "Five thousand." And that voice, that sound, every head in the clearing turned to see who it was. I felt my breath leave my lungs. The Lycan king himself had spoken. “I want her,”, He said His strong voice resounded across the air as he concentrated his gaze on me. The room fell dead silent, the weight of his declaration sinking in.
