The world seemed to stand still as his words echoed through the air. I gasped in shock and the thoughts in my head spun trying to figure out what had just happened. The Lycan King had just bid on me. He wanted me. My legs were shaking and I forced myself to remain upright as his piercing gaze settled on me like a lion ready to attack his prey. Tension filled the air and u could feel the eyes of everyone on both of us. No one dared to challenge him. The cunning smile on Dominic’s face had faded, he looked annoyed.: Kane looked equally disapproving, his jaws tight. They had no power here—not when Lycan King had a say. “Five thousand gold,” The announcer exclaimed, with a quiver in his voice. "Going once… twice…" My heart was pounding as soon as the last words left his mouth. "Sold.” The crowd murmured, a mix of awe and confusion at what had just transpired. No one knew why the king would go for an omega like me. A rejected one at that. But I knew better than to raise my expectations. I curled my hands into fists, trying to steady my breathing. He had claimed me—just like that. Now what? With a dominating presence and eyes fixed on me, the king moved forward. He was imposing in his presence. His broad shoulders appeared to occupy the entire space, and he was way taller than I realized. His dark hair framed his sharp features, and his eyes, those cold, golden eyes, never wavered from me. I forced the growing lump down my throat as he stopped a few feet away. “Come here,” he said, his voice low but full of authority. I hesitated; my heart pounding hard. But what choice did I have? Reluctantly, I began walking towards him, my legs were heavy as if made of stone. Each step felt like I was walking towards my doom. He looked down at me when I stood in front of him, his expression opaque. I felt the weight of his authority bearing down on me; "What’s your name? “There was a sharp edge to his voice that made my skin crawl, even though it was quiet and almost casual. “L-Lucy,” I said stammering trying to get the word out. “Lucy.” He repeated after me. as if testing the sound of it. His eyes flicked over me, assessing, calculating. "You’re coming with me." I blinked, confused. Coming with him? To where? Why? Before I could protest, his voice echoed throughout the gathering. “ This Omega is now under my care!! I will confront anyone who dares to challenge this.” The atmosphere became tense when everyone realized what he was trying to say. He wasn’t just claiming me; he was defending me. From what? From whom? Dominic and Kane looked at each other displeased but unwilling to defy the King. No one would dare risk his wrath. But what did it mean for me? As I started to walk away, a voice called out. “Wait!” I froze turning towards the sound. My heart sank as I saw my aunty running towards the king. "Are you sure?" she demanded; her voice was louder than I had ever heard. She widens her eyes as she shifts between me and the Lycan King. "This Omega is under my care. She already has a mate – the rightful one.” Whispers rippled through the room. Curiosity swept over the crowd as Clara’s words hung in the air. Lycan King turned, his expression blank. “Her mate?” His voice was dangerously calm but the look in his eyes was evil. “She belongs to no one.” Clara’s face showed fear, I could see her struggling to keep her composure. “She does,” she insisted. Lucy’s mate was decided years ago. This—this can’t be happening.” My heart pounded in my chest. Clara was desperately trying to stop this, but the truth was I had never been wanted or claimed. The King looked at me, and his eyes narrowed. “Is that true, Lucy? Do you have a mate?” “No. I... I don’t.” I swallowed hard feeling the weight of everyone’s attention on me. Clara’s face fell, and for a moment, she looked genuinely shocked. “There was a deal… with an Alpha from a neighboring pack…” She paused for a moment to get a grip. “There is no agreement. Lucy is mine now.” The king's lips curled into a cold smile. These words strike a nerve but there was no denying them. The King had claimed me in front of everyone and now I was bound to him. Clara shook her head trying to shake off her disbelief. “My king you can’t just take….” “Enough” the king interrupted. "She will come with me. If you question my decision again, you will face the consequences. “ The air grew thick, with tension and I could see fear in Clara’s eyes, She was overpowered, he overcame her. There was nothing she could do to stop him. My knees trembled as the weight of my situation dawned on me. The Lycan King had claimed me, and no one was going to stop him. The King turned on his heel, motioning for me to follow. With a final, apologetic glance at Clara, I stumbled after him, my mind spinning. I had no idea what awaited me, but one thing was clear: my life would never be the same.
