Chapter Twenty-Three When Cherry came to, her mouth and nose were covered up and she could hardly breathe. Panicking, she thrashed about. Then the familiarity of the sensation hit her: she was covered in the debris fragments she’d encountered when she first entered the city. Wiping the dusty bits away from her face, she tried to stand. The back of her head and her back hurt like hell. She guessed she must have landed on her backpack, which had softened the impact as she hit the floor. She was lucky she hadn’t broken her back.
