Chapter 1 :Steal Her Man
The familiar headache of a hangover hit Lin Huohuo the moment she opened her eyes, leaving her mind completely blank.
Her big, clear eyes stared at the intricately designed crystal chandelier on the ceiling. Breathing in the unfamiliar air that filled the room, she suddenly realized—she had no idea where she was.
This wasn’t her room.
Last night…
She raised a hand to rub her throbbing temples.
Her memory was fragmented—everything after she returned from the restroom to the private lounge to keep drinking was completely blank.
All she remembered was that yesterday had been her birthday. To celebrate her coming of age, she had invited a group of close friends for a party. And since she was officially an adult, drinking was inevitable. But as a complete novice with alcohol, she stood no chance against those seasoned drinkers. After a few rounds, she was completely wasted. What happened after that… she genuinely couldn’t recall.
But she distinctly remembered that her beloved cousin, Lin Miao, had been by her side the whole time. So, was her cousin here too?
Once an idea popped into Lin Huohuo’s head, she couldn’t resist finding out the answer.
“Cousin…” Her voice came out dry and hoarse, so rough it sounded like an old witch.
Frowning, Lin Huohuo rubbed her temples and sat up. Before she could even get a clear look at her surroundings, a sudden gust of wind brushed past her.
“You’re awake?” A deep, magnetic voice suddenly sounded beside her. Before she could react, her body—and the quilt that was slipping off her—were pulled tightly into a stranger's embrace.
Startled, Lin Huohuo turned her head, only to be greeted by a refined, scholarly face. His lips curled in a faint, gentle smile, looking harmless and warm.
He had such an amazing voice. Lin Huohuo's first thought was that it was a waste for this man not to be a voice actor.
“Since you’re awake, you’d better explain to your dear cousin and cousin-in-law quickly,” the man teased, his voice laced with mockery. His large hand tightened around her waist, holding the quilt firmly to prevent it from slipping and exposing the view beneath.
Only then did Lin Huohuo notice the two people standing at the door. Her cousin Lin Sen was glaring at her with fury written all over his face. Next to him, her beloved cousin Lin Miao was sobbing pitifully, tears streaming down her cheeks, looking as though she might faint from heartbreak at any moment.
Finally, Lin Huohuo turned to properly look at the man holding her—Yu Xiukai.
She recognized him.
Wasn’t this the man she had been on that awkward "blind date" with just three days ago?
A thirty-two-year-old, high-quality bachelor. A man known for his power and influence, able to stir up clouds with a flip of his hand, yet carrying the face of a refined gentleman.
But… what was happening now?
Lin Huohuo looked at Yu Xiukai, bewildered. The man merely raised an eyebrow and smiled at her, saying nothing.
She was burning with curiosity about why he was acting like this, but before she could ask, her cousin Lin Miao spoke up, clearing all her doubts.
“Huohuo, how could you do this?” Lin Miao cried accusingly. “I’ve always treated you well. I’ve given you everything you ever wanted. Why did you have to steal my fiancé too?”
What?
Steal her fiancé?
Still groggy from sleep, Lin Huohuo’s brain couldn’t process that statement at all. She looked at Lin Miao, utterly confused.
“Cousin, what are you talking abou—”
Her words abruptly stuck in her throat. The rest couldn’t come out no matter how hard she tried…
