Chapter 4

784 Words
"D-Dad?" I ask in hesitation. All he does is laugh and nod his head. I stand there just staring at the one person I've wanted to see since I was little. What do I say to him? What am I supposed to say to a man I haven't seen in years? “Well aren't you going to give me a proper greeting?” he asks making me come back to reality. “Yes father.” I say and fall to my knees not looking up at him, waiting for him to give me the ok but that's not what I got. Right when I hit the ground I hear a growl and I’m forced to my feet wrapped into strong arms. Not sure what to do I wrap my arms around the person holding me and breath in. The familiar scent of pine, mangos, and old shoe polish brings tears to my eyes. He holds me back away from him and gives me a look over. “You look very strong. I can tell you've been working on your body tone.” I smile at his praise. But he doesn't look to happy when the smell of Taugue comes close. He starts to growl and all I can do is stand there shaking. I hear a loud yelp and then nothing more. I start to panic and my father looks at me. I start to cry and fall to my knees looking in the direction of where Taugue’s scent is coming from. I slowly get up and start walking in Taugue's direction. I see him lying on the ground motionless but I can hear his heartbeat. “Taugue?” I say quietly. He whimpers extremely softly. Almost to where I can't hear. Then I realize my father still has his hold on him. I push my power at my father and I hear him stumble back. I look up to see him sitting on the ground staring at me. I pull Taugue into my arms and nuzzle his neck. He slowly wraps his arms around me. My father begins to stand but I force my power to make him stay. I don’t want him anywhere near Taugue. He was mine. Even if he wasn’t my mate I wouldn’t let anyone hurt him. He's the only one whose ever helped me and my mother. My father finally released his power on him and I got Taugue to stand. I didn’t realize the details of his sent until now: Strawberries, Lime, and a small trace of Cinnamon. I almost purred at the sent, but I was still kinda mad at him for not making sure everyone and everything was ok. I look over to see my dad rise to his feet. He isn’t happy. I look at him and stand my ground. I wasn’t a little pup anymore and he needed to realize that. He looked at Taugue and then me. “What’s going on here, no wolf should be able to over power me. I declare a challenge.” he says unaware that I’m the one with the power. “No. I won’t fight you.” I say,” There’s no reason for it.” He looks at me and laughs. Actually laughs. “I wasn’t talking to you. I was talking to him, the one with the power.” “I am the one with the power father. It’s not him.” He stares at me in disbelief. He doesn’t believe me. So I push a little at him and send a message through to his thoughts. I told you father, it’s all me. No one else. His eyes widened and he stumbled back about two feet. He doesn’t believe me. He never will. I wasn’t what he wanted. I wasn’t a boy. I wasn’t his male descendant. He would never want me. He would never take me back. I growled and turned my back to him, grabbing Taugue, walking back to the cabin. I could hear the leaves falling and the birds and only the sounds of me and Taugue walking. I wanted to change into my wolf form. But I couldn’t. I wouldn’t. No one would stay around if I did. I had to keep my wolf hidden. When we get back to the house mom is back in her human form waiting for us on the front porch, on high alert. “Where is he?” she asks in an aggressive tone. I know she smells him on me. She hasn’t said a word about him since he left. I also never asked. “He left after he seen who had the real power.” I say as we walk inside.
